I think we see Homer moved up into a Luukko position, Hexy takes over as GM and hires a new coaching staff and then we see some magic at the draft. - vejim
Homer is not qualified, in any way, shape, or form, to do what Peter Luukko did. |

I think the problem is that the organization wants them to make the playoffs this year. They aren't playing for the future. They are playing for right now. - PhillySportsGuy
every year they go for it
it's the agony and ecstasy of the Flyers |

Kinda like what Clarkie did when he wasn't GM?
Eh, I guess.
But don't confuse that "hockey figurehead" role that Clarkie had with what Peter Luukko did.
They aren't even remotely close to the same thing. |

Regarding Alt, I agree, I didn't realize how little pro experience he has. However Lauridsen is in his 3rd season with the Phantoms not his 2nd so I'm not sure how finishing the season with the big club would hurt his development at this point.
Also I wouldn't mind another look at Brandon Manning. - BiggE
FWIW, Alt has, thus far, been on a very similar path as Ryan McDonagh as far as 3 yrs of college hockey, a stint in the AHL (38 gms)... Ryan was called up mid-season '10-'11 and has since worked his way up to being the Rangers top minute D man. Not saying Alt will follow suit, but I'm all for giving him a shot, sooner than later. |

We need to trade everyone for someone else because everyone stinks.
Then, once we've traded everyone for someone else, we'll need to trade someone else for another someone else, because all of the someone elses stink. - jmatchett383
That post, and the responses were so well written and hilarious, they made me laugh out loud!!!
Also, Did anyone else see Giroux drop the f bomb twice on camera, just before his post game interview with Coatsey? Sounds like he said F U ref, or F U Raff. He didn't look happy when he said it. It was probably directed any Raffl, but why?? Puzzling.... |

You're 2real Leight on this one...see the Game Day Thread from the game it happened for some discussion on it...I don't think anyone found out why he said that. |

Popular opinion was Coatsey wanted to interview Raffl but Raffl declined so Giroux had to do the interview, and was none too happy aboot it. |

I wouldn't put my money on that...he had already agreed to do it obviously...seems a little after the fact to have that much vitriol. |

Giroux was pissed until Raffl brought him some hot cocoa that night. They reconciled and stayed up all night talking about their first kiss. |

There's generally something 'wrong' with any player that makes it to UFA these days... be it age, decline, injury history, limited sample as a good player, exile in the KHL, wanting too much $, etc. It's really tough to sift the good values from the bad... at least until August when the asking prices plummet. - Tomahawk
For undrafted FAs it's usually size, speed, or limited exposure. |

That makes no sense. Raffl has been interviewed quite a bit and doesn't seem a bit shy about it.
Whatever it was, it seems more fake mad than mad. |

Thanks for the input. Maybe Eklund or Bill Meltzer can shed some light? He certainly didn't look happy when he said it! |

The reason it seems like a big deal is team chemistry. Without it, the team is finished, and since they play on the same line, it warrants some clarification. Unless, I have a smile on my face, saying F U to someone means I'm pis*ed off! |

Exlund - I too would love to see Alt get at least a cup of coffee up with the Flyers this season but I really don't see that happening unless a slew of our D go down with injuries. Gutsy can't even get back into the lineup. |
