How good is Halak is he good because he has a good team in front of him or does he steal games or is it a bite of both.

basically what i'm asking could Halak be flipped in to a 1st round pick to a team like the Islander or Oilers 2 teams that need a goalie

- mike13wilkins

If Halak was under contract you might be able to flip him but he is a UFA to be as well. I think he has benefitted more playing in front of that Blues team more than him being a stud

You obviously don't understand making a move to put you over the hump. As a Sabre fan who watched 4 AHL D suit up in a game 7 conference finals game and who watched our GM sit ideal and do nothing at the trade deadline you should listen and at least think rationally. Yes they could put up 30 but you add veterans for a playoff run
- Stripes77

You literally just said we need a 30 goal scorer, they have 16 and 15 respectively right now, the other player I would trade would be stewart or berglund

No I said adding a 30 goal scorer. Not to mention one who is a veteran in this league but don't be rational it's fine it's the internet

He was good not great if he was great they would have kept him IMO and moved Price for a better return

He played better than Price. They kept Price because of his pedigree and potential and many fans at the time were pissed about it.

Nice of you to call out others about talking out of their ass and then proceed to do the same.

Nor should they but offering salary dumps, halak, and a late 1st is stupid

There needs to be something coming back that substantially improves the sabres roster as well....aka a top prospect

- SiloCity

Umm...Halak is a great goalie, and a 1st is a 1st no matter how you look at it...
Plus, like I said, the trade market isn't the best for goalies, especially considering that Brodeur may be available as well...plus I'm sure Reimer could be had for the right price.

You are going to be severly dissapointed.
- ImThatGuy

Exactly...some of you Sabre fans are talking like Canucks fans were last year when all the Luongo rumours were floating around.
Saying they will get top6 forward, top4 d-man, and a 1st or prospect...look what the got for Schneider. End thread.

If Halak is so great why do the Blues want an upgrade? Also I didn't know one season makes him a great goalie. He had one good season but to call his work in Montreal great is a joke.

Could it be possible that the Blues move Elliot + for Miller and move Halak somewhere else?

Agreed that's why I said Moulson or Ott. Take your pick. Ott is built for the playoffs plus Hitch knows him pretty well that's why I suggested one or the other

Possibly. I think they will keep one of them due to the fact that Millers is a UFA and if it does not work resigning him, they can re-sign Elliott.

Ott totally makes sense for the Blues. But I can tell you with about 300% certainty (and I'm not trying to be confrontational)......that the Blues will absolutely not trade either Tarasenko or Schwartz. If a deal can't be made without including one of them, Armstrong won't make the trade. Those two have been the Blues best players lately and are going to be the backbone of the team for the next 10 years. Sure, I'd trade my wife for a Cup.........but not Tarasenko or Schwartz!

He had a great run in the playoffs i remember. Like I said one season doesn't make his body of work. His prior year he had a 2.86 GAA with a .910 save percentage. That's not great that's my point. I understand ownership in Montreal wanted Price as did most fans but if you have a great goalie you keep him

What about the Devils being a trade partner with Marty most likely on the last year of his career ? They will be in need of a goalie and The wild doesn't need a goalie in my opinion.

Hahaha I love your last sentence. I understand the love for those two hell I want them don't I? But I would easily have given up Thomas Vanek in 05/06 for a cup.
