No I wonder what type of success we should expect out of him in the NHL assuming homer doesn't trade him |

I think 3rd liner would be a happy outcome. Someone that can pot a few goals, and muck things up. Maybe like a less effective Steve Ott. |

Sure he was on board that day.
However he just can't stay patient enough to stick to a plan or else JVR would most likely still be a Flyer and VL wouldn't.
Snider, at age 80 whatever, simply lacks the patience to stick with a plan. - BiggE
The JVR for Schenn trade, given the ages, was at least a developmental type trade, consistent with longer term team building, as opposed to mortgaging the future by trading prospects/picks/young players for proven (read: over 30) vets.
To his credit Holmgren (and by extension, Ed) hasn't made those young for old moves in a while...so, maybe there is some modicum of patience there. |

And told players like Schenn and Couturier that's it's fine to intentionally lose. And not played Mason to find out if he's any good or not, because he might have tried to stop a puck, that ass. - jmatchett383
Agreed, it's important that the young players to learn how to wait for success to fall into their laps. |

I hate that phrase. In reality, the worst offense is a bad defense. |

So in summary, JVR was traded for a young stiff, as opposed to the old stiffs Holmgren has brought in on the blueline? |

I guess we should have traded for Adam Foote instead of future Adam Foote |

I would be really excited to see Markov and Mez kill penalties together! - PhillySportsGuy
I'd be on board to get Markov (especially if he wore #55 hehe) but do you think Montreal would let him go? He's a key cog in that team.. |

IMO a winning team is like a bowl of fruit salad. You need a lot of varity of fruit to be good.
This team is made up of bananas and oranges... Where are the grapes, apples, cherries, and pears at? |

Curious because hockey's future has him listed as a B for probability for success like laughton |

This team needs to acquire younger talent. Markov may help them next year, but having him and Streit as they age is a bad idea.
I would definitely look to see about Subban. I'd be willing to part with Couturier for Subban. The Habs may not want the headache of having to sign him to some monster contract. Flyers won't mind overpaying. |

Hmmm...
Schenn and Streit are the apples (turnovers)
Grossmann and Meszaros are the pears (A pear of stiffs)
Coburn''s nose is a zucchini.... Oh that's a vegetable.
How am I doing? |

I'd over pay for Subban as well, but I see zero chance of Montreal letting him go..even though there is a lot of speculation he doesn't get along with Therrien, I can't see him being dealt. |

JVR won't quite reach superstar status, L. Schenn won't quite reach second pairing status. It's a wash! |

Markov, Subban, Gionta, Eller, Murray, and Diaz are FA's this season... They will have 26 million to lock up 10 players... I expect Subban to get near 7 million this time. And Markov will likely get 6.5 minimum on the open market. Not sure they can afford to keep both. |

Agreed, very equal value. This trade's going to take a while to judge. Also a factor against JVR is hiss allegedly a pigeonness. |

ya know, I think he'll get more than that. maybe as an RFA it will keep the contract down, but if Phaneuf gets 7 mil, I expect he gets more. Norris, team Canada, if he can and does go to arbitration, I see insane money because of the market price for dmen. |

Lets all have some fun
Flyers acquire high def photos of David Poile having sex with a baby panda; Nashville trades Weber to the Flyers for Rosehill, Streit and a 7th round pick.
Bobby Ryan threatens to go to the KHL unless he's traded for the Flyers, so they send him to Philly for Grossmann, Ed Snider's jet, Raffl and a 3rd.
Byfuglien, desperate for cheesteaks and pretzels demands a trade to Philly, so they trade him for Laughton, Gene Hart's ghost and a 2nd
Byfuglien eats Hartnell, removing him from the cap
The Flyers, claiming he hasn't had a concussion in over a decade, bring Lindros out of retirement.
The Flyers re-sign Robert Esche just so he will refuse to talk to Panaccio
Byfuglien eats VL, Flyers re-acquire Briere for a 6th rounder and Clarke's spittoon
Byfuglien demands to compete in Wing Bowl
Lineup
Ryan-Giroux-Voracek
Schenn-Lindros-Simmonds
Some guy who's never been in my kitchen-Couturier-Read
McGinn-Briere-Rinaldo
Coburn-Weber
Byfuglien (at 600lbs, he doesn't need a partner)
Lauridsen-Gus
Manning
Mason
Esche
And this is why I can't be allowed to drink during the day!!
- BiggE
That's why you SHOULD be allowed to drink during the day. By far the most logical post on this board in the last 3+ years. But you made one mistake: Lindros should be on that top line. |

I think he becomes an NHL player... the question is... will he be a good one. The safe bet is a 4th liner, maybe like a Aaron Carter or whatever his name is. |

If by "a matter of time" you mean in November of 2019, after the Flyers sign him to a long term maximum dollars contract. You do mean that, right? |
