Looks like we aren't winning again until late February... Not good enough to make the playoffs not bad enough to get a top 10 pick. Philly problems.

if you want to think that be my guest. they may not be the worst team in the league (although they sure play like it a whole lot) but they are not good
- hogweed

They're alright. Not terrible but not great. They are a fringe playoff team. They will be one of the last out or one of the last in.

I just don't see why they need to make a reactionary trade right now just for the sake of it. If it improves the team, then go ahead. I just don't think they should make a guy available and just take the best offer. Thats just not good management.

Unless they have a chance at a top 5 pick then we will win 5 pointless games at the end because you know pride and moral victories and stuff.

- hogweed

Agreed..They should make a trade because their D right now is not much better then what you find in an over 30 mens league.

Yes because they don't totally blow. They're playing poorly right now. The Bruins are also one of the worst match ups for the Flyers because of their structured play and great forecheck. Still time before the trade deadline.
- PhillySportsGuy

Just my opinion of course and I respect yours but from my perspective they have played poorly all year round. The spin they put on the 9 come from behind victories to me makes my stomach turn every time I hear it mentioned. They are disorganized, no heart, no jump no one "looks" POed out on the ice even when they win. The only identity this team has is falling behind early and continuing to take dumb penalties.

This is what happens when you spend your future on a 34 year old defenseman.

But we have Vinny and Striet for another 4 years. What's the problem?

It's easy to say we should get better defenseman, but you need to give to get. Give me an example of what you'd like to do. Some proposals of who you want to move and for which defenseman.

I don't really like either. At least Streit has been as advertised. If he were able to play on the third pairing in favorable match ups, he'd be fine. Still a lot of money for a 3rd pairing guy

If they can't play against teams with structured play and good forechecking then that means they aren't good

I don't think they've played poorly all year. I think they are an accurate portrayal of their record.

That's if you believe they really signed him to be a protected 3rd-pairing howitzer, and not as a solution their puck-moving/transition woes.

even if that's true it's right where you don't want to be. they specialize in bad management so they won't be moving up toward great unless they start acquiring picks and prospects and getting rid of many of the current players.

Some combo of B Schenn, Couturier, Laughton, Read and Picks should get you some upgrade..

When I can think better and stop being mad I will come up with something better.

well since you put it like that...

In all seriousness the fromt office backed themselves into the thing theyre gonna have to finally be: patient. Theres no easy fix to this. Trade coots and schen? Why to get maybe a playoff birth? Theyre married to Giroux and the payroll is barely manageable. Might as well just bide their time, endure this, draft well, sign the RIGHT free agents to sensible deals, not has beens that might sell jerseys, and mYbe just maybe, that stud blue-liner they need becomes available via trade.
