Yup, and he apparently was worth 2 second round picks last year. - BiggE
I guess to a banged up team that's still in the hunt |

Whats so damn frustrating is that they are really only 2 skilled, mobile dmen away from being a very good team, yet its so damn hard to even get one.

oh really then why aren't teams lining up to over pay for coburn then? - 2Real
Couburn sn't terrible = teams should line up and overpay? Interesting how your mind works. |

The entire team has been hit and or miss at times or all season, seems a waste of time to find one player to pick on.
Many of their failures are team wide. - ob18
Agree completely. And has cob urn been great this year? No, but that doesn't mean he's terrible or useless. And I wouldn't even mind if they were able to trade him for the right return. |

Exactly
All it takes is one top 4 guy in San Jose, Anaheim, LA, Chicago, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, or Boston to go down and all of a sudden a guy like Timonen is getting you a late 1st and a mid round pick as well. Heck, if one of those teams were to lose one of their big bruisers, a guy like Grossmann would easily get them a 3rd as well.
Over the last couple years, some pretty mediocre dmen have been moved for 2nd rounders: Kubina, Murray, etc... It will happen again this year, it always does.

i do think that given his physical abilities, he should be better than he is though - stayinthefnnet
I don't if he should be, but I think he could be. He's frustrating at times, no doubt there. I also think if we had the right composition of dmen, Not as many people would be calling for more from him. |

But Lately these teams have had the depth to make the difference which is even more scary when you look at out blue line, at one time the Pens had all top 4 guys out & were still winning. |

True, but you don't see a lot of those guys traded unless you want to overpay big time. Guys like Weber, Yandle, Edler were draft picks, thats the way to build your D, but it takes a commitment to the draft and the patience to develop them. Hopefully they've finally started to realize that and in a few years guys like Alt, Ghost Morin and Hagg are making an impact. |

He's asked to do too much when we had a healthy Pronger Carle & a younger Kimmo, no one female doged about Coburn |

Final
Erie - 5
Oshawa - 4
Laughton with 2 goals & an assist - ob18
Great, keeps feeding homer more reasons to trade him knee jerk style. If they do move him before he gets a chance with the flyers, I hope it's worth it. |

Very true, but I guarantee you if those guys were all out on March 1st and Shero wasn't sure that some would be back in time for the playoffs, they'd make a move. |

still though. a pretty damning lack of speed back there. - stayinthefnnet
Sometimes, it's jarring to watch really fast teams -- Boston wasn't excessively fast, just fast enough.
But you start watching some of these other guys on other teams...their stops-and-starts, their turn-and-gos...it's jarring to watch, sometimes. |

True, I was watching Chicago/Colorado a few weeks ago and it was like the game was on fast forward. |

Even if the Flyers are going nowhere this year, I doubt they are looking to move Read. Unless he's part of a package to land a dman, but that type of deal would most likely happen in the offseason. Be happy to trade Downie to you though! |

Most painful part of watching the league right now; even average defenders who can skate, especially right-handers, are worth their weight in gold |
