Did I really see Glass on the top line for a few shifts? I guess I shouldn't criticize that, because we don't see practices, or see if he is watching film right? - Thorny
Gibbons got a stinger from a shot and limped a little off the ice. I thought I saw him come back on later |

Wow another great quote from our great commentators "that was a goal scorers goal".......next they will say Orpik is a goal scoring defense men.

I see the Habs pulled out of a deal to trade Rene Bourque, for Parenteau but the Habs pulled out of the deal.
He still has 2 years at 4 mil but would he be a fit. Aquiring him would allow Bennett to play with Sutter when he came back.
And if the Av's just wanted Bourque, who has been a plug this year, what would it cost us. |

I love Orpik but he's not been fully right for awhile. Martin is clearly still getting up to speed. Once he's dialed in things should be better but right now it's tough. 44 goes as 7 does in my opinion. Maybe a situation where more Maatta and Niskanen should be seen at least until they get it figured out. Minus PK/PP time that is.
Obviously don't want to overextend Maatta though for late in year. |

There's been so so many soft, globetrotter plays at both bluelines tonight its embarrassing. Against an NHL caliber team they are losing right now. Its easy to see why they lose to teams like this |

Nice game by all players , Fluery looked especially good ( although not overworked ) , Gibbons looks like he does a line of meth in between every shift ! Love it , he leaves it all on the ice. Then again let's not get too excited , it is buffalo after all. |

Yeah, Buffalo is brutally bad. One f*uck up after another. I think the Pens lose to virtually any other team. It would have been embarrassing against a really good team. |

Its painful too watch sometimes. But don't worry this game and our next is on national TV, so you can join in on the awesomeness. |

blah game ... blah effort. Good thing we were playing against a team that can't score. Otherwise, this would have been a loss. |

We've been there. At least your team isn't selling players for cash. That's when you really start to worry.
I'll give them credit. They played hard and probably deserved a couple of goals. Just not enough talent to make plays. Seems like every time they got in good position they tried to over-pass and screwed it up. |

I suppose We'd pay a lot more attention to the game had we played against a top team. It's just like how it works. |

They always "work hard" and yet it is the same result 0-2 goals normally and a bunch of costly mistakes. You are correct the talent is not there.
They are in a good position yes, but how many picks/prospects is too many.
The Sabres have 6 more 2nd rd picks in the next too drafts along with 3 firsts and potentially 3 more with Miller, Ott, Moulson.
Not to mention they had 17 draft picks in the last 2 drafts. Cupboards are going to be overfull.
Speaking of which Moulson on Crosbys wing could be pretty solid. |

It's going to be a couple of years, maybe more, for the Sabres. You have to get enjoyment of watching your kids grow. Like I said before, at least your team has the financial resources to spend money when it's needed....that makes a big difference and should shorten the rebuild.
As far as Moulson goes... I'd rather see the Pens try to get him after the season. I don't want to see them give up too much for another rental. I think they need bottom 6 help more than anything else. Hopefully Bennett comes back and can fit in on the top line.

Teams that are short of talent have to work hard. Buffalo does work hard. In these games, I feel our guys just show up and think they can win on talent alone. It's that way against Florida and we play terrible.
You have some nice pieces to work with moving forward. It's all about trading off assets that aren't core pieces of a total gut job and receiving a huge haul; making the best choices at the draft and development. I don't know if Stafford and Leino have any trade value but I'd send them both packing too. There will be some lean years, but once the kids start to develop, it will be fun to watch.
