If Callahan is traded, does he take the rest of the teams hearts with him? From everything we hear from the outside, the players love Callahan. How does a team respond without him. Really is interesting.

It would undoubtedly be a crusher to this team to see Cally dealt. Depending on the return it can't look like anything other than management not believing this roster can win and would appear to be at least in part a concession on the season.

It was possible, but he is still a very very good player so I went with serious. Unless there is some history or inside thing I am not aware of .

I was joking because the trade is unrealistic from a cap perspective, but I do think the trade would make actual sense from a team need perspective this year. The Rangers need skill. And the Hawks have enough skill, and might want to replace some lost grit. I actually think the Hawks are the ideal destination for Callahan, but I think the Rangers would only get prospect in return. The Hawks wouldn't move a significant roster piece, in that they are looking to beef up for another cup run.

Obviously you don't wanna lose him for nothing but I think it would really be a tough sell to the team while they are battling for a playoff spot to have their captain shipped away. If it's for prospects, which won't help a playoff push at all that will make it even tougher, like there is no belief in them.

If Callahan isn't resigned by the trade deadline I wouldn't mind sending him to buffalo for ott an armia. ott gives us some more toughness and armia gives us a really god prospect/fringe nhl player.

Look what Clarkson and Clowe got last year. The deals given on the open market are crazy.

Mckenzie just said the NHL channel that the Rangers do not consider themselves true cup contenders and therefore will trade one or both if unsigned. WOW! It's ok for us to speculate that they aren't good enough, but for them to say that? This is all to upsetting, I need to go for a walk.

If the Rangers deal Callahan, it won't be for a rental IMO

Better not be. Better be for a nice (frank)ing package. Cally would be a rental for some team, who could then lock him up (hopefully)

You need to listen to Pierre MacGuire to perk up. He thinks the Rangers are the most dangerous team in hockey right now.

Just saw some commercial for Pompei. Looks like John Snow is the lead guy in it.

With the Rangers watching all of these Avs game, I'm surprised nobody has floated Callahan for Statsney yet.

Callahan's request is over the top, if this is true we need to start preparing for a very sad day in our history, I love Callahan and all that he brings on and off the ice but we can't mortgage the future on him, Girardi will be easier to resign and I think he would be a candidate to succeed Cally as Captain

Anyone see Clutterbuck at practice today? He covered his entire face in eye black, he looked like he was in black face

I think Buffalo stands to give up the most for him, I'm thinking Moulson and a 1st

Do you really care to do rental for rental at this point though and pretty much write off all chance of a possible compromise with callahan?

I will say this; we had a similar discussion about Hank's free agency a few months ago and many of the same points surfaced then. There was fear a deal would not get done. There was concern the Rangers would be forced to overpay to get a contract signed. Now I'm not saying it's a great contract but I feel just fine with the deal Hank got. It's at least possible the same thing happens with both Girardi and Callahan.

I'll take Buffalos first for Callahan. They can keep Moulson.

Exactly! They'll be in the running prob like Calgary for McDavid.

It could be the Islanders 1st they got for Vanek.
