With the Rangers watching all of these Avs game, I'm surprised nobody has floated Callahan for Statsney yet. - Pete V
Avs already have landeskog so adding Callahan would be redundant and it is believed Stastny might not be available any more. Even more so the player the avs would want would undoubtedly be Girardi and not Callahan. However atm it seems as if Girardi is staying at this point in time and trading for stastny would signal that Richards will be bought out. |

Trades like that never happen. There are contract limits and only so many spots on a roster. Granted NYR have scouted the avs for literally like 90% of the season but atm its not looking as if Girardi will be dealt. - Meeqsb
I can get your opinion elsewhere...even if this one happens to be correct. Can't I have a little fun with the ranger fans? |

At least make it crazy and offer up players you know that Rags fans wouldn't know anything about like Sgarbossa or offer them their old players like Mitchell back lol.
Don't give them offers where the Avs are overpaying though lol |

I will say this; we had a similar discussion about Hank's free agency a few months ago and many of the same points surfaced then. There was fear a deal would not get done. There was concern the Rangers would be forced to overpay to get a contract signed. Now I'm not saying it's a great contract but I feel just fine with the deal Hank got. It's at least possible the same thing happens with both Girardi and Callahan. - gkmkiller
I would bet on both being resigned -they are very valuable experienced
Core guys -they can't really be replaced -particularly
Cally. They would end up having to sign some half baked and
desperate Clowe type Deal just to try to come anywhere near
replacing what he brings and means to the team. |

Actually our cap situation is pretty solid. Granted, some of that has to do with having so many UFA's and RFA's but we have a lot of flexibility heading into the summer. And if we want to make a trade now we can add up to $8.5MM in cap hits. |

As an Isles fan I tip my hat to the Rangers and how they always find a way to the top of the division. As far as Callahan and Girardi, like Vanek even if they feel any loyalty to their present organization, you can be assured their agents don't so all of this rumored movement has feet. |

While it is doable to sign both of them it would more than likely lead to you losing one of Stepan, Brassard, Kreider, Staal, Faulk, Moore and other younger players who will need raises as well. So it is for sure doable, but is it the best thing for the rags to do? As far as Callahan I would say no. |

Richards COULD be a better player than stastny but he is 6 years older and if you dont buy him out then you are stuck with that contract with no way around it. So it is less about stastny himself and more about if the Rags want to deal with Richards contract for the rest of his career considering they can just compliance buyout him this summer but this summer only. |

Kreider is the more ideal forward for the Avs, he would be unreal with Duchene and O'Reilly |

Kings are paying brown 5.8 and to me they are the exact same player, just Brown is more of a weasel with his dirty plays |

Why I highlighted Brown and Kesler in the blog as view Callahan as relatively similar in style to each, though feel Kesler is more of an offensive threat. |

Out of the 3, I think I still would want Cally. Even though Brown has a cup ring and Kelser has been to the dance, they just dont have the heart I think Cally shows, A dirt bag and a diver are not worth the price of admission. |

I am pretty sure that "dirtbag" is one of the most generous NHL players when it comes to donating to charities. |

they are good players just they would frustrate me if they were on the Avs since you know they can be a lot more if they edit that stuff out of their game. |

I just can't see us paying if the reports are right, what Cally wants. I think though if we do lose him, its going to be felt on this team for a long time.

Jan in your blog last week you said you didn't believe girardi was worth over 5 per, I said he was. Do these numbers change your tune? Streit got that from Philly and he's older and a liability on defense. Wideman got that and he's a lesser player imo. I think if the Rangers can sign him for under 6 per they'd be foolish to let him go. The return won't replace him and every team needs and wants someone like him. Thoughts? |
