Just taking a guess on all of this but if Callahan and Girardi make it to free agency:
Callahan will sign with the Wild and join fellow americans Suter & Parise. A system that he will fit right in.
Girardi is a little tough but I'd say Toranto. A pretty solid d core there and he will get his $ |

They are building a strong defense core in Buffalo. Ristoleinen is going to be an absolute stud, and I have a very high opinion of Zadarov as well. They obviously need to add some punch up front, but given that they will draft very high in this year's draft, and probably next's, they could be real good, especially if they are luck enough to get the number 1 overall next year and draft McDavid. - Pete V
Yeah, if they could pick up a veteran leader, and some other forward pieces with some of those picks, and draft McDavid, its going to be interesting. Obviously sometimes high draft picks doesn't correlate to a good team, ie. Oilers. But like you said, they have a pretty decent d, and d prospects, and that's where the Oilers screwed themselves. I guess the question mark for them going forward would also be Miller, and what are they going to do in goal. |

Heading down to Erie again to see him play against London (Get to see Zadorov as well)
Ive seen him play in several games and every time I see him he has one of those "Holy S*** did he just do that" moments.
I have never seen a player with the speed/agility/puck handling ability all in one. If you have a chance to see him play in person, i strongly suggest doing so. |

There is a point though where how many is too many. They have had i think 17 picks in the last 2 drafts and now they still have a lot, and are probably going to get more (Miller, Ott,Moulson)
They need to turn this quantity into quality.
I know Moulson an Ott are UFA's but would either be interest in part of the trade for Callahan. Thrown in McNabb (An NHL ready Defensive D-man prospect) + picks.
IM honestly not sure what Callahans value is. Being a pending UFA. - ImThatGuy
I think the bigger question is what value is there to Buffalo trading for him. He has no value as a rental to Buffalo, so the only think that you would be buying would be a few months of exclusive negotiating rights and the elimination of the possibility that someone else trades for him and signs him before July 1 (or that he re-signs with the Rangers). How much is that really worth? I wouldn't pay alot for that if I were Buffalo. |

There's no way Cally can be compared to Dustin Brown or Ryan Kessler except that they're all Americans. Cally does not have the talent the other two have. He is a 3rd line penalty killer who can provide 40pts/ year at best. Trade him now to Buffalo or Toronto so he can be close to his family and get some picks/ prospects. Dan G. I don't believe you have a choice. pay him 5.5M/ for 6 years. This year, Richards, Boyle, Stralman, Brassard, D.Moore, Asham, Powe, poulit, Carcillo, Falk Kreider, & Zuc come off the books. The only players you bring back is Kreider, Zuc, and Poulit. maybe D. Moore. you have JT Miller waiting to take over for a Callahan. Fast, Lindberg and you need to lock up Staal. also that can leave you $ to get a Ryan O'Reilly. This team is soft down the middle and needs more skill. time to clean the slate. - louieblueshirt
All 4 bolded guys are RFA's so unless a team overpays for one them, all will be back. And what is this fascination with O'Reilly on this thread? He's not playing center this year. He makes 6.5 million this year and produces on the equivalent of Stepan. Plus he's an RFA. So unless you would like see the Rangers give up 1st, 2nd and 3rd round pick for a 60 point LW who has yet to put up 60 at center, than you're in the right ballpark. |

This I agree with.
I cant see Buffalo giving up a top prospect for him.
I would rather wait it out and see if he hits UFA. |

I saw him earlier this year against Plymouth, and now have seen him a couple of times. It's amazing how advanced he is for a 16 year old kid, although in the couple of games that I saw him he didn't necessarily do anything spectacular, you could just tell how good he was by how solid and smooth he was with the puck.
Saw alot of Zadarov in the OHL playoffs against Plymouth last year. He's huge, he can hit, he can fight, and I actually think he has some offense as well. |

So what are you guys planning on doing in goal if and when Miller leaves? Is Enroth going to be the #1, and do you guys have a solid back up if he is? |

McDavid is the golden ticket, IMO. The team that gets him is set for years.
Not to come in and bolst about this team in a NYR blog. Risto,Zadorov, McNabb,Pysyk, McCabe,Ruhwedel.
All very good D prospects. If the Sabres are willing to give up 1-2 of those prospects they could land some pieces IE) Callahan |

I for one dont trust Enroth. Hackett has been up and down, dont know what we have there. The Sabres do have Ullmark and Makarov in the pipeline but they are not ready.
I for one hope they get a goalie in return for Miller. EX(Halak,Elliott,Holtby,Neuvirth)
I think WSH and STL are best fits for him. |

I just hate to see them give them up. If it were me I would stand pat and continue with the plan.
Myers,Ehrhoff,Pysyk,Zadorov,Risto,McNabb. Sounds really good to me.
This is one of those cases where I want stuff, but dont want to give up stuff to get it. |
