I'll be honest I'm not sure I offer him a new contract if I'm the GM. I dont think his game has progressed enough, and I'm very leery of his injury history.
- youarewrong

You wouldn't offer a contract to Gus?

thats funny.

This team is in dire need of the skill set Gus brings.

All anybody is saying is that they played better, borderline well in last 40mins.
- Tomahawk

Ok they played better against a very depleted team. Thats like saying Woo Hoo I got an "A" in Home-ec.

If you say so. You go ahead and jump back on the bandwagon. I'll wait 4-5 games and see if I see the same improvement over a strech of game instead of against a severly depleted team before I admit this team is well anything but mediocre.
- youarewrong

Myself, I was glad for a good performance last night, but I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop and for them to get hammered on this West Coast swing. No way do I believe the Flyers are "fixed" because they beat a depleted Wings team.

But I'm fine with enjoying the wins and such. I was hoping for a Hartnell hat trick last night.

If you pulled your "F" in home-ec up to an "A", that would be an accomplishment. That's where this team is right now. Baby steps.

More like this team needs the skill set that we want Gus to have on a regular basis. Fact is, he hasnt shown much imporvement when he gets playing time. Very up and down player. If he were 22-24 I could live with that, but he is 26, its time to either be a regular NHL d-man or Regular AHL D-man. And I'm not thrilled about his injuries. It seems every time a defenseman gets injued and he gets a chance, he will get injured 2-3 games later.

Hopefully the Flyers can bottle last night's performance and take it with them on the road trip west.

G needs to act like he's playing in front of Babcock every single game.

I dont have a problem with pointing out the positives of last night, as long as they are tempered a bit.

All these guys had good games... They looked good. But keep in mind who was missing from the other team. Don't get too excited. This team still has a lot of wholes. And this team is more like a bunch of guys just put together, then a team with a plan.

- youarewrong

there is no question they have holes and there is no question, as they are built right now, they are a middle of the pack lower seed playoff team that won't go too far minus an insane stretch of play from Mason. But that doesnt take away the fact they played a nice game last night. No reason to put it down. I mean, Ok if they won 2-1 I can day yikes but they won 5-0

To be honest I'm sick and tired of the North-East corridor. People are rude and the weather sucks. I'll take Florida over Cali though.

youarewrong, You are wrong. I mean unless you like humidity and trash. Although I do have a soft spot for the Lightning. I just don't want to have to deal with daily lightning storms all summer long.

Everyone stop enjoying the flyers victory already, it's not allowed. Enjoying it means you think they have fixed their problems and are flawless now. So stop it!

He's never wrong. When he is, it's Grossmann's fault though.

My takeaway from last night is that I loved the fire and speed they played the game with. You don't beat anyone, not even depleted rosters without that. Step one in righting the ship. The key is doing that every game though, not just sometimes.

He's 25, and deserves another 1 year, $1 million deal. It's not a coincidence that he leads the team in +/-.

I truly believe Schenn and Gus play better when they get more minutes. They were both getting a good chunks of minutes last year and they played very well. I get that, I've always felt the more I play the better I play
- nastyflyergirl

That's the age old tug-of-war between players and coaches.

Player: "I play better if I play more minutes."
Coach: "Yeah, well, you'll play more minutes if you play better."
