I think its more like All NHL teams don't put in 60 minute efforts, and its an easy thing for sports writers to blame it on, instead of the other team actaully siezed momentum, or the other team just came out and played harder. Every team is going to have lulls in a game. Sure there may be some games that a team totally dominates, but most games there is going to be some time that any team just doesnt look right. Some teams hide it better because they are up on the score board, or are a stong defensive team, or have a strong goalie that saves them. It's medicore teams that just dont survive the lulls of the game, thus make it seem more obvious. IMO. - youarewrong

yea. I also think some teams are able to withstand those changes in momentum by being much more structurally sound.
The Kings are great at it. They'll look like their being dominated in territorial play and only give up 1 good scoring chance (which Quick normally saves). |

The teams they are going up against on this road trip, to me are kind of teams they should be able to match up against fairly well.
I think the Flyers, especially on D are built to play a gritty game. Just from some of the highlights and reading around it seems they played a bit more physical yesterday. Each team will pose dangers with quality players up front, but I feel the Flyers should match up better vs these teams, as opposed to say a team like Colorado, which has much more speed. |

It's not necessarily the "speed" of the Flyers' opponents. It's the teams that relentlessly forecheck the flyers into mistakes and convert those into goals. That's why teams with inferior talent levels give the Flyers fits. The Devils have done it for years!! |

When can MJL come back? - Scoob
You know, I was thinking about it the other day...and I don't think MJL has ever actually instigated an argument on here. He has a way with words that can offend people (myself included), but for the most part, he just rubs people the wrong way, and then they seek out an argument with him on a daily basis, or at least pick his posts apart/spin his words to draw him into an argument. Again, I understand that he can rub people the wrong way (as can I), but compared to some of the OLD users on here (not any more), he's not too bad. |

Well the 1 out of 9 stretch passes that make it to the forwards in the neutral zone look great...after 3 of the other 8 failed clears end up in the net. Last night, no matter who they played, there was (for the most part) puck support. If there wasn't, they would have had a much harder time winning despite their on-paper advantage. |

He is the king of not instigating directly, but doing things just in the right way to try and insult people without it being direct.
I rather have someone say something directly, instead of the passive aggressive BS he is known for. Is damn good at the cap, if you are into that kind of thing. |

People have the option of ignoring other posters. I don't get why everyone's panties get in a bunch over him. I've disagreed and agreed with him at times and never felt attacked. If I did I'd hit the ! and move on. |

I thought it was more the other way around... somebody would post something... and he'd immediately jump on some cap-related/systems-related minutia, in the most patronizing and condescending way possible. If the target then fell into the trap of responding, then the circular/semantic arguments would commence for pages and pages and pages.
He also had favorite targets... people who's posts he literally stalked. |

Agreed. Too many people blame the defensemen for the goals scored against. However, a big part of the defensive game is the responsibility of the forwards to back check. Doesn't it drive ya crazy when it would seem like they're are at least two or three opponents hawking the puck, while Flyer cowards are stationary, waiting for an outlet pass that gets intercepted, instead of coming back to create one? While playing an inferior opponent last night, they DID do the things necessary to win one. West coast trip should be interesting to see which team shows up. |

They do. He also has a beautiful habit of picking out posters he isn't a fan of, and going through 30 pages of the board to quote everything they post, to just start something ego driven debate.
But hey, its also a great way to draw hits for the site, which I have a belief is part of the season is took so long to get a ban.
Whatever. |

This. Early on it looked like the usual struggles in the D zone, but it seemed like the forwards got the message and made sure to get back in support, with guys like G coming back to help in earnest, it made it easier to deal with the opposing forecheck and facilitated the breakout/transition game. Good stuff! |

Bill's comments. His game wasn't that much better, & he took 2 penalties. He struggles mightly w/the puck on his stick. He seems to almost turn to his back hand and/or reverse the puck instead of moving it forward. I like what he brings for the PK and some shutdown playoff hockey but I think he has too big of a role on the team. I know it's out of necessity... I see him out on the ice durning 4 on 4. Why? |

Damn right. Exlund, you, and me that I can remember in particular. I asked the moron to just join me, in ignoring each other and he could only do it for a few weeks. I did it nicely, through a PM, saying that it was kind of ruining my experience on here.
If anyone did that to me, I'd at the very least listen. (frank)ing napoleon complex that guy. |

While I am a fan of the guy, I really do wonder how much a team would be willing to pay to bring him in at the deadline.
If Gaustad can bring a first, you have to wonder. |
