i disagree. the coach lays out the blueprint for how a team plays, and he has to teach and instruct the players on how best to execute that system, and he has to get all the players on the same page. there's a reason St. Louis turned into the team it did when Ken Hitchcock got hired. there's a reason Anaheim shaped up when Bruce Boudreau took over. there's a reason Montreal finished dead last when Cunneyworth replaced Martin. i think your head coach has a major impact on your team.

Just to get the lines rolling during a game is an achievement.

Making sure the players get the right amount of seconds every shift. This establishes the tempo

But Boudreau wasn't as good a coach when he was in Washington, apparently. And got fired.

obviously Bourdreau was not the problem in Washington. they have not been the same team since he left. he had them at or near the top of the conference and they're now just another team.

that was one of the most pathetic things i've seen from this team in 20 years. imo that game showed exactly what kind of team they are.

One thing that looked different to me in the last game vs. the caps game was the forecheck and neutral zone gap distance. Dmen were playing a little tighter instead of just backing in behind Price. They need to regain control of their blueline better. For Therrien to suggest they need to become more of a grind team seems a little ludicrous. They need to be more of a possession team, not dump and chase.
