This isn't NFL football, where every play is cautiously prepared, Pete.

Well it certainly isn't a pick up game on the pond either.

But Boudreau wasn't as good a coach when he was in Washington, apparently. And got fired.
- Pecafan Fan

Oh so now you only compare a coaches good year with a new team vs his bad year when he got fired?

Has this conversation about coaches really lasted all week?

Coaches have a short life expectancy with teams, a new coach will come in and majority of the time the team will react and play better, the better the coach the longer the team will listen to what he is preaching.

It is still on the team to listen to the coach and to execute, it's not like all these coaches are preaching 30 different strategies, most of them are saying the same poop, just a matter of the players buying it.

One thing that looked different to me in the last game vs. the caps game was the forecheck and neutral zone gap distance. Dmen were playing a little tighter instead of just backing in behind Price. They need to regain control of their blueline better. For Therrien to suggest they need to become more of a grind team seems a little ludicrous. They need to be more of a possession team, not dump and chase.

I think he said that, maybe to motivate some his bigger players to play big.

Christ, I think even Bourque threw a couple of body checks last game.

I am surprised that they are not discussing Scriveznas 60 shot shutout, and how much of a fool the leafs were for trading him instead of Reiminister

So Therrien should get some credit for that, and some for the poop show we had to witness the week before.

#Montreal woman in her 30's dies after scarf is caught in an escalator at a subway station. Police say she apparently strangled.

wtf

- Symba007

How (frank)ing long does a scarf have to be (or how short is the woman) for that to happen?

I mean, you'd have to have a scarf long enough that it was wrapped around your neck, AND dragging on the floor to an extent that it has enough slack to get caught in the escalator. Unless the woman was 4 feet tall, I can't fathom how this would happen.

that was one of the most pathetic things i've seen from this team in 20 years. imo that game showed exactly what kind of team they are.
- DoubleDown

Under no circumstances should you find your way halfway through a game, and have fewer shots than the other team has goals. Not in the NHL. That was putrid.

A coaches attitude paired with the individual attitudes of the players on the team goes a long way to determine how long a team will buy in for.

absolutely and if the coach is yanking guys around and playing head games he's likely getting tuned out sooner than later
