It really takes a year to fully recover from a knee rebuild...he'll be fine.
- habs12

Yeah I'd wait until next season before saying it'S a good or bad signing.

That said, the timing of the signing was stupid.

How can you blame a coach for everything when the 2 teams are incredibly different?
- Pecafan Fan

Because back-handed shots off of left handed shooters from the right side while 4-on-4 in road games say so.

So the refs have it out for Subban and Prust

The coach also doesn't know how to fit a 5th midget into his top 6 and have the lines produce, #Shocking #MTHATESBRIERE

It doesn't point 100% to the coach.

But Therrien is the only common thing between those two teams.

That, and the abysmal play.

If you want to prove that Therrien is an awful coach, how else can you do it but by comparing the team he is coaching to the team he has coached?

Therrien got the Pens to the finals, Bylsma won the Cup the following year and hasn't been back. It's not like Bylsma was the difference, Malin and Crosby taking another step was.
- golfingsince

I was gonna say that Therrien brought them to the cup finale the year before...
Why aren't they looking at that year's trend instead of the year the players decided they wanted to get rid of him and stopped playing?

Yeah that likely could have waited.

I didn't criticize Gallagher.

As for Prust... the refs thinks he embellishes everything, and they don't make calls when he's interfered with, and he doesn't get away with the stuff other players do.

The other night, when he snapped, he was getting a penalty for high sticking someone, which he had no control over because he was blatantly tripped right in front of the ref's eyes.

Anyways, sounds like a bunch of bellyaching. Seems really clear that they don't like him.

- EricEngels

I hope not! I would be very happy if he was named Habs' next captain. Sure he's young, but he's still the one with the best work ethic.

Let's look at clearing attempts while down 2 men that went to the right of the opposing goalie that year.

Please read this post, written in 2011. Might bring value to the argument.

Still only uses the year Therrien was fired and not the one before.

Why?

Edit: Here's my guess... probably because the numbers wouldn't support the point being made in that article, that's why. But since I don't know the numbers, it's only a guess on my part.

Anybody that watched both finals saw that Datsyuk and Zetterberg completely owned Crosby and Malkin that first year. They grew as players because of it, good on them.

So because the habs won last year (which he is therefore responsible for) he can't be blamed for them losing this year?

edit to your edit: the trend is that he seems to start well and then become extremely insecure (like being out coached in a playoff series) which pushes him to change his system and player deployment

I would have liked him to use shots against by defence men who wear a number higher than 40 with a stick flex greater than 95 from that year.

So the conclusion to be made here is that the year that a coach will be fired is the year that the team is not playing well, except for those times when they don't.

Damn glad someone did the math to figure that out.

My point is I think some of the guys writing these articles do it with the purpose of making a point.

If Therrien's numbers were good the year before, it goes against what they are trying to prove.

Lost in this equation, the players.

Not their fault, ever.

Who is saying that Therien is the sole reason for them "winning" last year?

Other then the people who want to blame him for losing this year

The point is, the habs are trending downward and Therrien doesn't seem to know what made the team successful in the first place.
