I made this point earlier. Frolik and Bolland will eventually cost more than Bicks 4 mill. - Elbows15
yep...for sure Bolland. I bet the Leafs pay him over 4 next year. |

The whole Hawk philosophy depends on rolling 4 lines. They need something out that 3rd line. - Elbows15
Hopefully tnite was a start. I know Zus isnt gonna be a 3rd line regular(at least hopefully not), but for Saad and Shaw hopefully they can keep it goin with some 3rd line chemistry. They really should be able to, those 2 are as talented and as well fit for their roles as any other teams best 3rd liners. Maybe im wrong and they end up goin back to Saad with Kane on the 2nd line and Steeger on the 3rd line, but we'll see. |

This game has slump buster written all over it for the Hawks. Score more than 1 goal and you have about a 75% chance of winning....score more than 2 and you win. Feel free to take a few stupid penalties for fun as well because the PP sucks. - Nucker101

Last 21 games PK 89%
53 Kills out of 59
- TrueGrit
Would that be top ten? - Elbows15
Don't know - but 19 for 19 in the last 7 games probably would be.
Hopefully won't "jinx" them but time to stop talking about the PK being 29th in the league. |

So long as the PK is in the 90% range or better going into the playoffs that's all that really matters. Let's see how good that PK is over the next 4 games ... that will be a real test. |

The Bi-Polar board
Won a few puck battles and the passing was better
Yesterday the board was trading everyone and today all is well with the world

If Callahan is available in NY, I wouldn't mind seeing him in the Indianhead.
Bicks needs to go IMO. Bollig is proving to be adequate on the 4th line and does what Bickell should (including getting the occasional goal)
Leddy has been advertised as tons of potential for 3 years now, but is easily pushed off the puck and plays hot potato too much. He could go too IMO
Handzus has been well documented on these boards and the Hawks are probably stuck with him the rest of the year, then he will retire.

Having been critical yesterday it's only right to recognize when things go well. Everybody's dragging - what to do? Roll 4 lines. They always seem to play better when Q rolls 4 lines. Too simple, keeps everyone as fresh as possible. That's one of the things that needs to be done and so it was. good on him.
As far as Bickell, the other night when he had the blowout someone on this thread mentioned pursuit angles. That was a great post. Having to wear a brace for a weak knee requires an adjustment for exactly that. And any adjustment needs to be made during a game as practice usually isn't as intense. Having been there and done that, it is not easy. Your mind reacts at game speed but your body just doesn't have it. At least not yet for Bickell. It's frustrating and maybe this experience will shed some needed perspective for him. Can't just show up and take everything for granted. Now he has to work hard to stick. That's a big body for a wonky knee. We'll know what a pro he is when he shows up for camp next year. Does he train all summer or go fishing. He had better do both. |

Most of these are not do-able from a cap perspective unless you are sending back a bunch of salary. Legwand, Jokinen, Moulson are all in the 3-4.5 mil range. Zidlicky is too old and is at 3 mil. McDonald is the only one that makes some sense, definitely an upgrade over Kostka and Brookbank, but would they value him more than Leddy? Do you swap Leddy for him?

The Hawks would likely have to give up more than Leddy for McDonald. |
