With Callahans long string of absences this season, I think it's become evident that he's not a big enough difference maker in the win/loss column for the Rangers. At least not as much as everyone thought. He's a nice contributor and good leader on the ice, but is not vital to the overall success of the Rangers as a team.

Nice player to have but if he's asking for anything over $4.5 million per year, I think it's reasonable to consider moving him at that point. His career stats do not indicate that he's the type of player that would warrant anything above that.

one thing I havnt seen anyone talk about is why Callahan wouldn't take a hometown discount for a club that gave him an opportunity to play and eat up minutes, now obviously im talking about years ago when he first came up but a lot of teams lose patience with guys like that. and especially in NY where its a win now mentality. would like to see Callahan lower his expectations a little bit. I think 4.5-5 is the max hes worth. like everyone else said has a great heart, definitely a clubhouse kinda guy and has ability to rally a team. would like to see him stay but at that asking price they could get another scoring center, what brad Richards was suppose to be.
