Shoot early and often! Gotta start winning some games, not really a good time for a losing streak.

Zubrus has never done much during his time with the Devils. If he wasn't 6'5 he wouldn't have a full-time role. Everyone thinks because he's big he's a good player, but he never throws his weight around. Zubrus for two more years at 3+ mil is a waste.

Guys need to step the (frank) up. Zubrus, Bernier and Ryder have been completely invisible and useless. Ryder sucks if he doesn't score, he always ruins plays down low, is slow and doesn't have great hockey IQ. I wouldn't mind trading him in the offseason. Zubrus needs to do something offensively...1 assist and an empty netter in the last 13 or so games is awful. Bernier needs to do something too...

i disagree, he's a good player for the type of system we play - just wish he would finish his chances more often (can say that for just about everyone on the team though)

He is good on the boards, on the PK, and decent on FOs

Zubrus, along with the rest of the team, is just in a rough stretch. He's been effective for us during his tenure. I've said numerous times that a team of Zubruses and Greenes, or maybe Zubruses Eliases and Greenes, could win the Cup.

I'm on the line of apathy.

want to be excited and hope for a win tonight, but with NY winning it's last 2 and NJ losing, it doesn't look good. What keeps hope alive is we're only 2 points out of the last wildcard spot, 3 points behind Philly for the last division spot.
I don't believe in Philly and I think we have a shot at them. I don't think Carolina or Columbus will explode either. The 4 of us are up and down, mediocre, have our good games and bad. We DO have a shot at the 3rd division spot.
As far as the wildcard spots go, I think Detroit, Montreal and Washington have much more of a reason to be confident that they'll get the 2 spots over NJ.

There IS hope.. but we're just in a wait and see mode until either a move is made or they somehow have a change in their approach and attitude. The comments after the last game were a bit alarming, especially coming from Elias. Marty can shutit as well.

I think it's funny when people sitting on their couch at home comment on the lack of an NHL veteran's hockey IQ. Ryder is our leading goal scorer and has an uncanny knack for finding open space in front of the net.

I like Zubrus and he's not on the team to have a 20 goal season, but I would have to agree with Bernier. If he's not scoring he's gotta be physical, and hes doing neither right now.

So just because I am not an NHL player means I can't have an opinion?

Marty will realize soon enough nobody wants him as a starter. But i'm with you not omptimistic pretty much just pure apathy. We have been watching the same thing all year and the same problems persist. But all of sudden now is urgency and desperation mode...Way to wait until the end to get serious.

I can't blame the team. At the beginning of the season I said that we were a boarderline team with a chance to make the playoffs. That much is true but its clear we need a boost otherwise we'll stay just outside the playoffs. Instead we get more status quo. I think with the talent on the roster we can't really expect more and its on Lou to fix the team.

I don't disagree. Just frustrating to watch Sal every game while Larsson is in the AHL and Merril is press boxed. We where much more exciting and better than what we see now when we had them in to go along with Gelly. Made being like this a lot easier to swallow. As of now we have no first rd pick and only one real young guy playing gaining NHL experience.

Looks like he draws in tonight, Gelina as the 7th D. This is a sick joke Gionta centering Elias and Brunner....

It won't last long. Josefson barely lasted the 1st period on the top line. Gionta won't stay there long.. although there's not really anyone to replace him in that spot. Maybe Carter? It's a shame Josefson is scratched. It really is a joke.

Honestly having Larsson in over Salvador for the last 2 months would give us at least 3 more wins. 6 more points. Just keeping the worst dman on the team (maybe except Harrold?) in the lineup every night is hurting the transition game, and not doing much good for us defensively.. and who the heck knows what's going on in the room.

I wonder if Lou is forcing Pete to do these things or if it is all him.

I would put Loki with Elias and Brunner before Josefson. But thats just my personal preference. Sal and A trainwreck really hurt the speed, im okay with one or the other. But Sal hasnt been moving, hitting or anything.
Keep Andy and Fayne together,

And maybe this, it wouldnt be the best if we got stuck in our own zone, however there would be alot of speed and movment out of the zone.

Merril - Harrold
Gelina - Larsson

its only matter of time till Harrold is back. Something is going to have to give, and not sure a trade will happen as much as we want one. It might actually be a kid being moved down or traded away instead of getting rid of dead weight.

I really wonder the same thing. I don't understand it. There's been so many obvious things that need to be done .. for a long time.. that just haven't been happening. I just keep hoping the reason has to do with this being the effects of whatever Lou has to do in order to make a beneficial trade.. I keep hoping it's taking so long because of the status of the market and that this is by design for GOOD reasons. Not reasons that involve loyalty and whatever nonsense.

We need offense in a bad way

Even the Sabres are almost better offensively than we are
