Nobody wants Hemsky. Edmonton has been trying to unload him for 3 seasons now.
STL def isnt going to trade a big trade chip for him. - jbold
I already told them that. Edmonton is my 2nd team but nobody will want him for anything above a 3rd Round Pick. |

I'm sure Wild would offer Heatley for him as well. |

Edmonton would be a good fit, but he isn't worth our current 1st rounder. If they don't want salary back how about our 2015 1st, and if it's a top 5 lottery pick, St. Louis gives us their 1st? |

While a current center or prospect center would be preferable, I wouldn't mind seeing another winger with a desirable contract that is under performing in his current situation. Someone that can come in and stand up for teammates, much the Stewart does, but also brings a more consistent effort. I believe Stewart is very talented just not under hitchs system. Those of you that want to keep him to see of we can lure stastny are not thinking about the consequences of holding onto Stewart and hoping for the best with his old pal. It's been several years and stewy doesn't look nearly as motivated as he did when he first arrived. I don't think stastny is the answer next year unless he takes a large pay cut, which is also unlikely with the rising cap and value of playmaking centers. |

Somebody get this guy a cigar! Excellent blog, I've been saying the same thing for over a year. We should have traded him last year when he had more value. Nevertheless he should still be traded. He jeopardizes the whole team when they play against top competition. |

Sam Gagner would do well in St.Lou....lots of big fellas to make room for him.I would expect him to be better there than in Edmonton. |

Would you trade Stewart to get Eller back in St-Louis? - sEb_666
I would. I always preferred Eller to Berglund as who would be the better center. With Berglund making strides on left wing, I think dealing Stewart for Eller would be a solo deal for the Blues. I'm not sure if Montreal would agree to it, however. |

Stewart is a good fit for Edmonton, they aren't necessarily a good fit for us trade wise. If trading for a 2015 pick, no reason to do that now instead of the offseason. What's more, I would imagine we could throw in something and get a top 5-7 pick from Florida for him in this years draft, which is a lot more attractive than risking all that young talent Edmonton has putting it together and getting a pick in the teens in 15. Have to imagine Florida would love to put him on a line with Huberdeau and Drouin for the next decade. |

Can you guys not read? Its not just Hemsky I offered. Also Hemsky is a lot better defensively than you're giving him credit for. He back checks and blocks shots quite well. |

My friend, that is the exact deal I was hoping they would have made last year instead of the perron trade. I'd take Gagner in a heartbeat over Stewie. I could see Stewart thriving in edmonton though. |

I don't think Gagner would fit under Hitch, he defense isn't up to snuff.
If EDM offered their 2015 1st for Stewart and a conditional 1st, Armstrong would be insane NOT to accept it. Having a possible shot and landing Connor McDavid, Jack Eichel, or Dylan Strome would be impossible to pass up. |

Gagner doesn't bring the grit I was trying to describe. I don't know what his contract looks like either. But I would hold off for a better offer, but make it known I'm listening to offers if I'm army. Come playoffs, we need that sand-paper grit to be effective against the west coast. Along with whatever return we hopefully get for stewy we need lapierre to start playing the way he historically has. He has seemed super soft since his suspension. Whatever happened to that reckless abandon we brought him in for. |

Gagner isn't a fit on the Blues. Hitchcock wants his centers large and very good defensively. Gagner is neither.
I'm not sure who these "lots of big fellas" people keep talking about the Blues having are. Backes? He is a center, and already has wingers who play great with him. Berglund? Also a center, and not really someone who makes space out there. Sobtoka, Roy, Oshie, Schwartz, Steen & Tarasenko make up the rest of our top 9 with Stewart gone, and are all 6 foot or smaller. |

That would be a steal, though I doubt they would be willing to part with what will likely be the second overall pick. Gagner might not be perfect but I don't think we're going to get anything that spectacular for Stewy at this time.
Edit: my fault, just saw you said 2015. That would be a goodly deal. We really don't need anybody to replace him, jaskin could easily fill in right now and we still have rattie. |

Barkov is a center, not a RW; and wouldn't create space like Stewart would. Also very unlikely they throw 3 forwards that young all on the same line together. |

Gagner is another undersized, below-average defensively center. Roy is a perfect example of what happens to those under Hitchcock. We don't need another. |

That's true but gagner is still young and it takes centers longer to develop defensively, especially on a team like the oilers. He might not have much of an impact this year but I believe he could in the future. |
