The problem is the Blues DON'T beat the best teams. See their record against the top in the West.

I'm not going to bother, I'll take your word for it.Just saying they're a low scoring team, partially due to their syatem, and the sh!t teams are easy to score on.

Well, why doesn't the rest of the league do the same then?

The Blues are 2nd in the league in goals per game.

If Edmonton and all the other bad teams were so easy to score on, wouldn't other teams be in front of the Blues in goals per game?

Undefeated vs. the 'Hawks. They aren't so bad.

Welcome Randall and great blog. Stewart has lost so many board battles in his own zone this year that I've stopped even expecting him to come out with the puck. The guy just doesn't know how to work hard.

I would love to move him and Roy for a center that works in this system.

I'd also trade him straight up for Hartnell. He's better in the playoffs.

Oh, and Randall, let me introduce you to your first troll. dan, please stand up.

I think I would do a Stewart for Callahan deal. Don't like that he would be an UFA, but other than that............

You didn't know that every team in the NHL is a low scoring team except for Chicago???

He's UFA and looking for something north of $6M a year.

I don't think I would. He's a middle line player, the Blues don't really have a need for any more of those.

The only reason I would seriously consider it is to make a push this year.

I do think he is going to demand too much money for the Blues to keep, so Stewart might be too much since Callahan would just be a rental

If you're wanting to clear Stewart's salary off the books for next year and have some freed up dollars going into next year (the way they moved Brad Boyes) then Callahan probably is an upgrade for this season.

It's worth considering in that light.

Yeah, I am not sure that trading Stewart for just a rental is the best idea. I could probably be talked into it, but I have my reservations on a deal like this.

Toronto fans seem to want him, Stewart + a pick for Kadri? Would add some depth at center for the Blues and allow Berglund to play the wing.

I do not think it would take a pick. The only problem would be salary for the Leafs and also the Blues.

The thing is it might be Buffalo for say Miller.

Or it would be better served sending him to a team to get a good prospect and our picks. We need more in our system and have plenty of depth at wing.

We would not even need to insert Jaskin into the lineup in Stewart's place. I believe Paajarvi has earned decent minutes and looks like the coaching staff agrees by moving him in Stewie's place.

I would like to see if there is anything one could say get from the Islanders or someone for either Halak or Elliott at this point.

Even though Halak is playing better he is mostly deriving good stats from the team in front of him.

I would say get Thomas and bring up Allen. Also have Elliott around. With three goaltendrs up Halak will cry and like it or not it is likely to happen when the rosters expand.

I would like to also see a return for Halak since his cost was significant.

I would not hate an Eller for Stewart deal nor wold I hate seeing a Stewart for Perron deal.

Stupid article. Stewart only scores against the weak and this is why he sucks?

Okay.

Tarasenko = 12 of his 17 goals were against Florida, Edmonton, Calgary, Minny, Dallas & Islanders.

Schwartz = 8 of his 16 came against 'weak' teams.

You are right that Stewart does not play a 200 foot game. Yet he manages to score with limited ice time.

Oshie = 10 of his 12 goals were against junk teams.

- dan_77

Stewart is invisible and does nothing when playing against real competition.

Oshie has three against the Kings, one against the Wild, and one against the Coyotes who's chasing down the Canucks for a wildcard spot. Not to mention he isn't known as a shooter, and plays a strong 200 foot game.

Schwartz has scores HALf of his goals against playoff teams. He is a strong 200 ft player and is outstanding at stripping players of the puck.

Tarasenko has five against playoffs teams, two more against Columbus who is a point out the wildcard race. Not to mention his defensive game is 10x better than Stewart's.

A big difference in the players you've listed is the fact that even when they aren't scoring, they are making an impact in other areas of the game. Stewart is not. Period.

Stewart and Cole to Philly for Couts and another piece.
- jbold

If you can get Homer on this I'll call Army and we'll get this done. The other piece can be a conditional - 2nd if the Flyers make the playoffs and 3rd if they don't.
