I dont want to be the "old man" jerk... because I used to say the same thing about my College. But get used to it buddy. Your not in highschool anymore... Its prepairing you for the real world. Where do you think I am today? Sitting in a cushy bed? Nope. I'm at work. We dont have snow days here, and unless there is a state of emergency, we are expected to be here. - youarewrong
regular college i wouldnt even care because academically it can be made up rather quickly. and i do understand the real world, but you can only simulate it to an extent. the process of education is served for its own merits, and doesnt really have anything relying tangibly on it outside of its own range like "real world"jobs do. its not as if they havent shown before they have the ability and tendency to extend make up classes, which suck but i really dont mind.
like i said, i can understand the "prepping for real world mentality", but if that was the case, are all other institutional programs in the philadelphia area inept? because temple is the only one who clings this steadfast to it.
and im not in a cushy bed either my friend. im already doing more work. no rest for the law school weary |

Because public transit is still running.
I'm at work. Andhere either you work remotely if you have access and can manage your work that way or you get in. The guy in the next office came in to CC from Bluebell. I'd be unlikely to drive all the way in from the burbs in this, but I'd certainly make it to the train or HSL. I feel worst for people who need to work whose kids are being closed out of school. They don't have many options for child care and most don't get paid if they don't show. - bodiva88
getting to the train station is often extremely tough though. granted, no body told me to drive a little rinky dink kia, so i guess i will take the blame for that aspect. but navigating the side streets that receive no attention is nothing like driving down a larger road/highway that has been salted and plowed regularly. |

I brought my kid to the office today, but I'm lucky that I have the option to do that.
If my boss doesn't like it, he's free to change his bad attitude about working remotely. |

Honestly, could we have a little common sense and understand that kids don't typically come straight from college (or juniors) and play defense in the NHL. The exceptions are rare talents. It is no shame to admit your guy is going to take seasoning and development. It IS a shame to consistently rush and underdevelop young players so they never reach their potential. - bodiva88
I'm all for waiting on these kids, and definitely want to avoid moving them for a fix now. If they can't trade for a decent young guy without paying through the nose, a guy like Boyle on a 2 year deal becomes intriguing |

I work outside a lot, and unless there's a state of emergency, I'm headed in. Hell, even during a state of emergency, I'm subject to having to report.

And that again is another situation where each play has to be looked at individually, and conclude why the puck was iced. What were the other options available, what the situation was. - MJL
No, you don't have to look at each play. Over a season external factors balance out.
I don't need to watch every goal Ovechkin has scored this year to know he's a better goal scorer than Bobby Ryan. The numbers speak for themselves. |

University of Delaware is usually Always open, and we dont have the luxary of public transit like the subway. You either live on campus or you have to drive in. I'm actually impressed with Temple, and if the other schools are closed in a city where public transport is easy, then its a shame to them. |

easy as referring to public transport is a matter of opinion. i realize that im an outlier in the equation, and that this is largely a matter of futile ranting, but a legitimate commuter's drive to their form of public transportation is longer than most of the people who consider themselves commuters because they take a 5 minute subway ride right in. |

see, hate to just be a whining 20 something here, but its just a strained comparison between actual jobs and schooling. i do sympathize with individuals with younger kids, as that surely creates a hassle. but a job, in which you are being paid to do, and likely has repercussions at least somewhat through society, should have a greater standard of striving to be there than an educational field, in which it offers no direct tangible benefits or need fulfillment to society, that essentially operates in a self sustaining and self directing bubble that could disperse and allocate missed time in a way that is impossible to translate to the real world. |

I get it, most people have to drive to an outlying station to get into the city, if you dont live in the city. I spent a lot of time in DC and with the DC metro, so I get it. But believe me, that is WAY easier then the 15 miles I have to drive to get into work and back for the most part. Sure some people have to drive longer, some are shorter... but the result for most people is the same... they still have to get into where they are going. Good for Temple for making thier students understand that now, then when they have to go to work for the first time in the snow... |
