How much will Niskanen get in free agency this summer? I wonder if it will be north of what Carle got from the Lightning. - ravishingone
Probably in the same ballpark. |

I would think that the rarity of available quality defenseman would elevate the price.

So for that kind of cap hit, do you convince Kimmo to come back another year, or invest 7 years for Niskanen. He's only 27, I think he gets 7 years.

Niskanen is having a great year, but he is incredibly inconsistent. There is no guarantee he will continue to play like this. I would much rather get Girardi. He's a steady, reliable dman. Not a ton of offense but he will chip in his 30-35 points. He will play very strong defense though. |

I think it depends on the Cap hit. Niskanen is a player I wouldn't mind adding. But in my opinion I think the Flyers need a high minute player that can play the hard minutes. If the Flyers could somehow move Streit, Niskanen would be a big upgrade.

I'm with you there. Definitely would love to add Girardi.

Ultimately, I think Sather caves to Girardi's demands, of course I could be wrong. I like Markov, but another over 35 contract and with his injury history is very much a concern.
I love Kimmo, I just don't think you can get another year out of him on the top pair without him breaking down further next season or being worn too far down at playoff time.
I think they would give up the farm for P.K., but the Habs can't trade him, no matter how much of a pain in the arse he is.

You know Homer will be in on him. It makes me nervous because I don't know if this is just a great year or not. |

I think you're right, Girardi will be re-signed. The more I think about it, with the available Cap space the Flyers have for next year. I'd think real hard bout giving Niskanen Carle level money.

I agree with you. The Rangers looked stacked on D a couple years ago. They could end up losing Girardi, Del Zotto and Staal is a shell of himself.
I would take Kimmo back. He would still be the best defenseman on this team next year if they don't make another move. Having him as your best defenseman puts a cap on how far this team can go though. He's just not able to carry the load like he used to.
I agree about Subban. I would part with Couturier+ for him. Habs would be insane to let him go. They need to overpay if they have to. He's really progressing in his own end as well. The future is really bright for him. |

i dont think so. only because i just dont think they can. and honestly, i dont think ill hold it against him when he leaves, because for him to resign it pittsburgh, he would have to turn down a ton of extra money. like max talbot times 5. |

i hate him, but Subban is another one of those guys who would single handedly improve the flyers by leaps and bounds. he is the real deal. |

Max deal was a fair deal in hindsight. The cap keeps going up so much. These deals end up not being that bad after a few years.
Carles deal looked terrible and now it look reasonable. |

Supply and demand, he will be 28 next season. I think he gets 7 years in the market place, IMO.
