With the financial resources of this team, there is no reason why they shouldn't have more young guys with NHL promise in the pipeline. They've done a better job in the last two years in drafting and finding some free agent gems, but this trend has to continue. - ravishingone
I know. Laughton will be the perfect addition to this team. He's versatile, good defensively and plays the game hard. Once he establishes himself, fans are going to love him |

Laughton can play wing. He's done it before and his game can translate to that position. He's a very good two-way player. Those types of players win you playoff games. - PhillySportsGuy
We haven't seen him play wing at this level -- let's not overstate what we've seen him do
All we've seen him do is not look out of place on the fourth line, at center, last year
I want him to be a very good player, but it's just not accurate to say that we know he can shift positions and be effective -- not every player can, or does. Patrick Kane, for example, hates playing center |

He played wing in the WJC for a couple games. Most elite forwards play center in juniors or college. Matt Read was a center. Switching to wing has worked for him. |

I'm not really arguing with you, either -- I just want the Flyers to do what is best for the organization.
If Scott Laughton can help them land the right defenseman for this team, around 25-28 years old, then I don't believe they should turn away from that |

He should feel good. Two good wins against two tough Western Conference teams without their best d-man. I miss Lava's antics behind the bench, but the Chief is not overwhelmed being the head coach. I have been pleasantly surprised.

they were complimentary/neutral mostly, but whined just as much if not more over noncalls or nonsense as people accuse the flyers feed of, and they don't even tell silly jokes like the flyers feed
i just don't get the hate on the flyers feed - -davies-

I think it's complete b.s. That center ice doesn't show pre and post game show. Annoying |

What a pleasant surprise. Having to get up at 5:30 ( 4:30) some days, make west coast games impossible to watch live.
Grossman escapes having to read 1440+ plus posts with over 50% about him |

Missed the game, by 10:30 in Key West, well lets just say that coherence ain't on the menu.
So, how'd they look? |

scored first, gave up 2 on only 5 shots, 2-1 thru 2 periods, hung in really well keeping shooters to the outside the rest of the way, & then we scored 4 straight in the 3rd, seemed the sharks were tired or sitting back & Niemi imploded somewhat as well.
While Mason made the stops he needed to the rest of the way
Giroux & Hartnell were skating very well, as were Couts & Read!!
Gus & Luke Schenn & Streit were very solid again, (Gus & Luke mainly in he D zone)
Luke looks very confident!
Also props to Raffl, very underrated 2 way player!!
Work is going to stink today TIRED!!! But happy we won!!! |

Sweet!! Glad I DVR all the games when I'm down south!
Really nice to see them quiet all the naysayers by taking 4 out 6 points in CA, but I hope they keep the intensity level up and win the last 2 before the break. Neither will be easy, Colorado is playing very well and Calgary is a team playing with no pressure so they have their work cut out for them.
Who were the big guns last night? Anyone play particularly well or particularly poorly? |

The names I mentioned, Giroux Hartnell Simmonds Read Couts Raffl & even Downie were all skating well, Voracek was moved around a little in the 3rd & seems to be going in 3rd gear a little, until G set him up for the insurance goal
I think signing Gustafsson is very important, he & Luke especially played very solid, very confident, Streit has been better, & ran the PP point very well!
I would say it was a total team effort, everyone stepped. |
