Why do so many people think Marty will have no takers and that the Devils will get nothing in value in return? Has he been great this year? No. But neither has the team playing in front of him each night. Put him on a good team with a good defense (any defense is better then Sal, Volchenkov, Merrill, and Harrold as your bottom 4). The guy is a proven winner and is the best puck handler in the league.

Its his contract. Big cap hit and he can refuse any given team if he doesn't want to get traded there. Very limiting from a trade point of view. Lou would never ship him off somewhere if Marty didn't want to go there.

Yea, when I think about how many FA's we brought in last summer, I don't really think we could add any more this year. It'd just be too much of a team built out of random parts. I think if anything we'll just try to get some picks back at the deadline. We're already missing our 1st, 7th, and I might be missing some but I dont feel like doing research.

No way. Rather rebuild from the ground up. Plus Cammi is on the downside of his careeer. It would be trading a guy who will only get better in Merrill, plus one of our only picks for a diminishing asset in Cammi.

Why would you give up one of Merrill, Gelinas or Larsson for Mike Cammalleri? He's missed 17 of Calgary's games due to injury only has 13 goals? Ins't the upside on Merrill, even if it's a safe projection, like a #3 or #4 defenseman?

It would be fun for the summer so we could troll the Rangers that we took their captain, but once the first season starts and his body falls apart, Volchenkov style, we'd be made fun of for the next 7 years. -_-

The guy is on pace for 30 goals in Calgary. He'd have options of being LW to Elias, or Zajac-Jagr. We need help this year and the next few. How else are we going to get it, with no 1st round pick?
Vanek will go to Minnesota, as he's repeated numerous times. No one else will want to come here. I don't want to give up any of our D, but we have D to spare.. and just Boucher and Matteau up front. Cammalleri is a UFA after this year, maybe could be re-signed for 20mil/4 years?

In the next 27 games he'd have score 17 goals to get to 30. Right now he'd be 4th on the devils in goals and 10th in total points. Why do you want him? He's a rental and is 4 months away from turning 32.

I'm with you on Leino but I'd sit out the duration of Stafford. Like you said, you aren't going on a cup run and you'll need to stay at the cap floor.
