Really sad to read of the passing of Keith "The Thief" Allen. Legendary Flyers GM built the Broad Street Bullies and had a huge role in the Keenan Era teams, as well. Sad day for the Flyers.

The Flyers family lost another one of their greats today. He was not only the rock which this franchise was built on, but more importantly, a true gentlemen.

How is this an Iconic Character... Rumors are that this is a regular character, and the person that does the voice won an emmy for this character.... Not sure Sherry qualifies... Internet Rumor has Apu as the guy....

The lady who did her voice was an Emmy. And I was wrong, it's not necessarily an iconic charcter, that was a rumor floating around. It's a woman who's "graceful and-----" I don't remember the second half. And she's "the charcter you knew but didn't know" or something like that.

Come on -- it's not that bad. All he said was that it's difficult to talk hockey when one person always has to be right.

I'll use myself as an example. I debate as hard as anyone. But when Andrej Meszaros started to play well, or at least better, I owned what I said about him being unable to play anymore.

I honestly didn't think Meszaros would earn another NHL contract. While I would assume he will take a pay cut, he certainly has shown enough to merit obtaining another NHL deal, if he wants one.

This stuff is just opinion. We debate roster moves and trades and whatever. Sometimes, we're wrong. No one is right all the time.

Meszaros is in a pretty tough spot. Have to believe that the lack of a contract is affecting his play. I don't think he's playing with the same physical edge that he had in the past. Maybe he's trying to protect himself, because if he sustains another serious injury, that will lessen his value towards getting a new deal in the off season. He has shown the same ability to move up offensively, but he's clearly not the player he was. Which is understandable due to the injuries and the mental hurdles that I'm sure come with it. But if he gets past that, a team might get a talented player that can rebuild himself on the cheap.

My view on Mez is simple- unless you're gonna get something like a 3rd or higher, trade him.

Other than that, just keep him as a cheap mobile 6/7 because is a 4th+ REALLY worth it?

Didn't watch these games because they were too late for this old man and also my disgust for how the team was playing. From Bill's write up it seems them put together some games here with all out effort. This is what drives me crazy about this team and really the Flyers teams for the past 6-7 years, is their inability to play a full 60 minutes on a regular basis. They seem to play well for a few games and that slowly falls apart to where they only play 10-20 minutes. That lasts a few games they get the poop kicked out of them and then they say that game was a wake up call. Repeat the cycle and call it a season.

How can professional athletes let this happen. Not saying this team is a cup team, but if they played a full 60 minutes almost ever game they would easily be a playoff team. At that anything can happen. I'm just sick of the excuses, just go out there and play like you can.

To lazy to check the stats, but it sure seems this team plays better when Rinaldo is in the lineup. Not saying it's him, but that is what it seems to me. Is that perception or reality?
