He should have been playing the last 2-3yrs gaining experience, the season outcome would have been the same. Bringing in a 39 yr old guy like thomas makes no sense since we were not going anywhere anyway. There's a reason why nobody wanted him back after is hiatus. Except our dumb ass origination.

I agree 100% on your assumption. I've stated the Markstrom playing time theory this same way. Especially this season. But, since we obtained a talent/hall of Famer like Tim Thomas, I've enjoyed it. Hasn't probably done a damn thing to move us forward, but it is WHAT it is. Markstrom must play, and I'm tired of repeating it.

Okay people let's get off the "Tim thomas to the promise land" revival already. He sucks. Either pay for a good goalie in free agency or let the kid matkstrom play and learn. Pens did it with fluery

All three of your franchises hemorrhage money, but at least the Devils have won something. Congrats on 2nd place in the league, one time Florida, you'll never do it again. And as for Ottawa, they have the best chance out of all three of your pathetic teams to muster up another second place, if only their Owner wasn't an actual lunatic.

Look at the team he had in front of him in Boston, though. His first few seasons there that team was terribad. Had to build to get to where they were.

That doesn't negate how well Thomas played, regardless of how bad the team was. He still earned those trophies!

I also want to add something about Thomas and I don't remember who mentioned it. They called Thomas crazy for what he did with the white house and meeting the president. Well, I give him boatloads of credit and respect for that. It takes some brass balls to be a Champion and in the NHL world, he's reviered as one of the best, and to turn around and say "F-U" to the president and government of the United States. He has his own opinions and feelings on how this country is being run and if he has no respect for the president or how poorly this country is being run, then he has every right to speak his mind, and this was his way of doing that. Every Champion of any kind would be the first to raise their hand at a chance to meet the President and have your picture taken for the accomplishments you've earned and Thomas stood his ground.

But he earned those trophies with a good team in front of him. He played great for sure, but wouldn't have gotten there if not for the team in front of him.
