Because as an American Hockey Fan there is an air of arrogance when it comes to Canada and Hockey. Its just annoying to hear and deal with. So unless I have players I want to see win gold.. like Richards and Pronger.. then I would root against them just to have some of that arrogance kept in check a bit. - youarewrong
As a Canadian I dont have that luxury....How Giroux wasnt picked for original team is mind boggling....F Steve Yzerman and the rest of the crew....Obviously I cheer for Canada....its hard sometimes when the political crap gets involved .... |

Obviously one of my favorite characters in any show! Loved his trip to the bakery when he shot the kid in the foot - vintage Chrissy! - BOSS_TWEED

Exactly. I mean, this isn't 1984 and the Berlin Wall is up still.
Rocky, Rambo, and Billy Joel all were responsible for ending that. - johndewar

Yes, because Hockey Canada must make this whole thing seem like selecting a Pope or something.
If they don't take Giroux, I will be rooting for Canada to finish out of the medal round completely because I think the whining and crying afterwards will be hilarious. - johndewar
Oh...I wouldn't mind if "Crosby's team" flopped.

For what is supposed to be a day as busy as the deadline itself there seems to be very little going on... I remember when Ek had rumors. |

Owners told the GMs to wait until after the Olympics.

Carter played C all his life and shifted to wing. Giroux came up a winger and shifted to C. I don't think it would be very hard for him, although a guy like St. Louis who's played wing all his life would be better than each, given what they need. - jmatchett383
There's been a lots of discussion on here about Schenn and Lecavalier and who should play Center and who should play wing, and about a players natural position. I don't think it has anything to do with Giroux and how good of a player he is, but in the original selections they just felt he wasn't a fit, not that he's not qualified to be on the team. I would have chosen Giroux over Duchene. We'll see if he makes now with Stamkos out. But if he doesn't, it won't be because he's not good enough. |

IMO it is impossible to consistantly play.... I dont want to say above thier heads... but 100% effort doesnt work either....
I just dont think this team can Consistantly put up the efforts we seem to see for streches. - youarewrong
They absolutely can be more consistent in terms of effort. The question is will they. |

If the Flyers come out playing the way they did against the Sharks, and can maintain that effort for the duration of the game.. The Avs will be in deep poop. |

first home game after a road trip is usually a let down
Avs pasted by NYRs and the Flyers coming off a big win
just not sure what to expect tonight

But last time they came home from the west they rocked. Then slumped the next four after. |

C'mon man! I HATE Crosby too, but I would never advocate a cheap shot. Karma comes back around. I would say I wouldn't mind catching him with his head down and leveling him w a CLEAN hit, though. On the other hand, if he takes a cheap shot, then he gets what is coming back to him. Eye for an eye.....it's hockey....it's life! |
