MacDonald reportedly shot down a 4 year, $16mm deal. He's a huge bargain, playing 5th most minutes in NHL and getting $550K - Jsaquella
I wonder why no 8 year deal was offered similar to Hamonic, seriously, this franchise has to offer these type of deals to certain players just to keep them around.
They are the NHL's, (former), Montreal Expo's, grooming good young players & losing them when they become free agents |

Please just don't trade for any short term assets. Only trade to help the future. if it helps the present at the same time, then fine. |

That Hamonic deal is awesome. His agent should be fired |

The trade for Vanek was just stupid. Moulson played well with Tavares and they were buddies. Sure, Vanek is better, but not a 1st & 2nd rounder better...plus the Sabres will flip Moulson and likely get at least another couple seconds, if not another first - Jsaquella
Sure was stupid, did Snow really think he'd win that gamble?
He's dealing from a weakness already & throwing assets away when the guy wants to go to Minnesota, (by all rumors & publications) |

I wouldn't offer McDonald an 8 year deal.

He must think that he can recoup more by trading Vanek if he won't sign.

Buffalo is stockpiling like I've never seen - Just5
It's a good thing the Islanders can defer that 1st rd pick until 2015 or Buffalo would get a couple top 5 picks most likely. |

of course you wouldn't, so watch your assets all leave each year & the revolving doors to the unstable franchise continues |

yeah, ok, stay tuned for that, so you think it was a smart deal flipping UFA wingers & giving a 1 & 2 as well?
seriously?
Or are you just opposing me for fun? |

McDonald is a nice player, but he's not a star. Losing that kind of player is not going to kill a franchise. They made him a decent offer. |

ahem, we're talking about the Islanders.
edit, not saying the Flyers, no, they wouldn't. |

How did I oppose you? I only stated and speculated what I thought Snow might think. Personally, Vanek is a better player them Moulson but I don't think that the Isles should be trading away first round picks in a trade for one scoring winger for another.

yes, I'm talking about the Islanders also. That was pretty clear when I talked about the offer that McDonald was given. |

Who is starting tomorrow btw? Emery?
Would've gone with Mase, he's hot, ride the hand. He'll have 2 weeks to rest. |

I don't get how you sign for 7 years with the isle. He was worth at least 3.8 a year at the time of the deal and he will only get better. But he's signed 3 years into UFA eligibility. Steal of a deal for islanders. Even Tavares deal is awesome. That Garth snow isn't as bad as I thought! |

Yea, if Hamonic continues to blossom, he could potentially be leaving a lot of money on the table. But I guess he wanted the security.

in bold yes it is, but his (Hamonic), deal isn't so bad, (for him), the only thing that may be n=bad about it is that he (as well as Taveras, Okposo, etc) don' have enough talent around them to get to and stay at a competitive level.
But Hamonic's $ isn't so bad regarding the exchange in security.
Sometimes waiting for the pay day & it could back fire (concussions Knee, etc) |

It was a shot at the pens announcers. I dont have a problem eith the pick because wechave no idea what SL develops into/traded for. No doubt Maatta would help now but only the future will reveal the best choice |

Brilliant. Hang onto a guy long enough to go through the growing pains, and when he's starting to really start to fulfill his promise, trade him....to go through the growing pains of the other young center who's done well in the CHL - Jsaquella
Laughton has scored way more points this season than BSchenn. Waaay more. |

If the Flyers and Edmonton are talking seriously, I want Darnell Nurse in the discussion. His offensive game has continued to develop as I expected..he has 42 pts in 53 games, already surpassing his totals from last season, in 15 less games and is in the top 5 (D scoring) in the OHL. His defense has always been a strength. This kid is big and has top pairing upside. I believe he could be NHL ready as early as next season. Morin and Nurse would be like a thunder and lightning nightmare for the opposition. Get Nurse Homer! |
