Would you trade LA's entire roster for our entire roster?
- youarewrong

Probably. Do we get to keep our non-NHL prospects?

Good question. I like our team, but they have both a stud tender and a stud dman in Drew Doughty.

Forwards are easier to acquire than that stud dman that you need to win.

That's what Bob McKenzie was saying earlier this year. Yikes.

See, if they wanted smaller teams to be able to compete then they should allow teams to hold onto cap hit without having to hold onto salary... But a team can only have an X amount of "dead" cap space. The teams would be able to trade its players to cap straped teams, while keeping the cap hit... bringing them above the minimum without paying the salary... Which would allow them to spend more money in FA and to resign thier own players.
- youarewrong

You'd essentially be allowing the richest teams to spend above the cap AND increasing the players' share.

Good. Trickle down effect. In return for spending over the Cap... they will have to give up better assets. Smaller teams get better teams, without having to pay as much money...

Not saying it's for better or worse, but owners want a hard cap, and what you're describing breaks that.

"Penguins defenseman Kris Letang will miss at least six weeks after having a stroke last week, it was announced today by Executive Vice President and General Manger Ray Shero.

The condition is treatable with blood thinners and at this point is not believed to be career threatening.

Further testing also revealed that Letang, 26, has had a very small hole in the wall of his heart since birth. This small defect in the wall is present in all individuals before birth but seals shut in most people. It is possible that the hole in the heart led to the stroke"

That's one of the...wow. That rivals "Lindros nearly dying in a bathtub in Nashville with a ruptured spleen" for how out of nowhere that is.

Think Lindros has the collapsed lung, Forsberg had the spleen.

But yeah, that's just kinda out there.

That team seems cursed.
I hope Letang is ok that is horrible news

You can't play hockey on blood thinners
He will need to get the septal defect in his heart fixed before playing again

What I'm saying is him coming back in six weeks seems way too optimistic

Goes agains the entire principle of a Salary Cap. One of the basics of the Cap is that salary paid out equals cap hit paid out. Otherwise it skews the players share.
