I know this is leight but I just saw Jeff Carter was playing wing with Crosby and Kunitz at least at practice.
I can only imagine the wailing and moaning if team Canada actually had taken Giroux and then had Sid centering G and Carter.
Missed a golden opportunity there.
- Marc D
I truly hope Canada falls on their faces. I understand why Giroux wasn't taken, but if Canada doesn't medal and somehow the Flyers hoist the cup, that wuold be the biggest frank you to Yzerman ever. |

I think, and I reiterate, I THINK the Flyers are closer than many believe possible. The Kings were no where near a great team like Chicago or San Jose. However, they had a goalie that went insane. Mason reminds me of that kind of goalie. We need a few break along the way. But I honestly believe with the right addition at the TDL, we could make some noise. Besides, we would probably play you guys the first round, so that's a lock to move on - Deasr1
i dont think you guys are there to make a legitimate run this year, but you never know. that being said, i think its crazy talk that some of you guys think you need to wait 4 years time to be competitive. you guys are so close to being there. so much talent on this team. just need to tweak the mix, and find that vital defender.
and no way do i want to play you guys, because you guys literally make the team become stupid. id rather not meet boston. but other than that. id put the pens at least even against anyone in the east |

I don't see them as being that close. They still have holes that can be exploited. It depends a lot on match ups. I don't see them being able to beat the Rangers or Bruins. - PhillySportsGuy
All teams do. But three very basic things win in the playoffs: special teams, faceoffs and goal tending. I think we truly have all three in spades. |

Nah. Holmgren's just waiting to be able to offer him a 6yr deal @ 5.5 per. - fecondo
whats sad is that homer will probably have to wait in line to do so. |

In the east whats the order of teams you'd least like to have the Pens play? |

if they finish like it is now (unlikely) they would play the rangers and I hate that match up to tell the truth |

You guys are scary every year. Yes, indeed, we get under your skin very easily. As do you ours. Like I said, great rivalery. One of the best in hockey. Tampa scares me. Boston, they do to to some extent. But Tampa and a team like the Panthers are the ones I cringe when I look at the schedule. |

Not faceoffs. They're in the bottom 3rd in that department.
I think its more about two-way play, goaltending and timely goals. Some of it is luck, but I still don't trust our defense against a strong forecheck. |

So do I. Bruins and Rangers are tough match ups for this team. To be honest, I'd rather play the Pens! |

And I trust this team when they are up on their skates, not afraid. They have a lot of confindence in Mason. Once he makes a couple of really nice saves, this team goes off. But Mason has to make those saves, or they become very average. Look at the west. Lots of great teams. We played all of them very well. |

i dont mean this as an insult, but given the difference of the teams on paper, the flyers are all the wiser for just knowing they can start a poop fest and have it be a 50 50 shot letting the chips fall where they may. the pens do have more talent on the roster than the flyers, but the disparity is not so great that they can implode themselves and still fend them off. the pens are idiots for still falling for it. for as awesome as he is, he becomes a petulant child. |

Flyers played very well. Being able to sustain that level of play for 4 series is another story. |

yup. i dont see it happening though. but other than boston, i cant say im necessarily scared of any team. a matchup with the flyers will undoubtedly always have the potential for the pens to just poop themselves, but its also a series i know they can win. for some reason the rangers really dont scare me either. |

I think the Flyers matchup well against the Pens as well.
#1 Flyers aren't afraid or intimidated by the Pens. They seem to relish the opportunity to play them.
#2 Flyers create a strong forecheck and can make it a board game.
#3 Flyers drive the Pens nuts for some reason.
If the Pens are willing to work hard and ignore the extra stuff, they should be able to beat the Flyers. |

None taken. I think it is a flip of the coin who wins the series. I would rather play you guys then almost anyone else in the division with a shot at the playoffs.
That includes Columbus. |
