Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks: How Much Will Roberto Luongo Play in Sochi?
Roberto Luongo fought to get back into the conversation and be named to the Canadian Olympic Team in Sochi. Now that he's arrived, how will he fare?

- Carol Schram

I think Price will get one but I don't see the need for it.

It's a short tournament. Ride Luongo for the entire tournament.

They will ride the hot hand, same goes on D and up front. Price is playing his best hockey ever these past couple weeks, it's up to him to steal the job.

That Vancouver experience for me decides it for me.

I also happen to think that Luongo is a superior goaltender.

Also, I do think it's going to be difficult to choose the best goaltender when playing Austria and Norway. Babcock has indicated multiple time the amount of confidence he has in Luongo. Lu is his guy. As he should be.

I think they are both great goalies... Price is better at some things.. and Lu with others. Both have the potential to break down mentally.. but either one could carry this team to gold.

The defense will become harder to decide.. I think if they struggle to score.. which is entirely possible facing some pretty impressive goalies in this tournament.. then I think Subban checks in.. and starts the PP with Weber.

Just my opinion

Subban was the 7th D at the practice earlier today, mostly getting PP time with Weber and Doughty.

D is where Canada will face a challenge, angles are totally different on the big ice, they will have to adjust very quickly.

People tend to forget the wrong and only remember the good.

Luongo sucked in the last olympic, he made some flashy saves but allowed 1-2 fluke goal every game.

Same for Crosby, he did absolutely nothing the whole tournament except score the OT winning goal for the gold medal (which is incredible, but he still performed bad and people who knew nothing about hockey all praised him).

Luongo should get the start because of the experience, not because he had good 2010 olympics.

Would you of rather seen Crosby score 30 points and lose the gold medal? Legendary players don't always put up the most points, but they get the points when they matter the most.

And Luongo didn't suck in the Olympics. He wasn't brilliant but he didn't have to be. We had the best team in the tournament. He just needed to be steady which he was. He made a ten bell save in the dying minutes to get us to the gold medal game. Clutch saves and clutch goals is what people remember.

I'm hoping Canada tanks, so management can finally identify and address the failings this team has...

Subban scares me defensively on big ice. I just don't think he is disciplined enough.

Don't worry, he won't see much ice 5-5 in the big games.

Read that Pavelski was between JVR and Phil in practice. Could be their best line. Blysma had Kesler, Brown and Kane together which seems odd.

How is that odd? Because Kessel is not on the first line?

Actually it probably is their top point getting line but I'm more surprised they're wasting Kane between a couple of plugs.

As Canadians I'm sure we're all pleased though.

People use Kanes for balance. Kesler & Brown fall down a lot. Makes sense to me.

Funny Kes is centering players who are arguably parts of our two biggest rivals.

Not to mention Kes Beat the shyt out of brown a couple weeks ago

"(Reminder: we have to cheer for Drew Doughty and Duncan Keith. That's so awkward.)

Not awkward at all, Carole. This is TEAM Canada and I will be strongly routing for every single player - in fact, I think we're very fortunate to have guys like Doughty and Keith, who are immense talents (the fact that they can be douchebags on their relative teams should mean nothing and any Canadian who will not be cheering the entire TEAM on, is just another bandwagon fan who doesn't understand the immensity of what it means to wear the red and white and win such a prestigious prize on the worlds biggest stage).
