Neither Toews nor Hossa nor Staal was an All-Star Game MVP. Sharp was. Just saying. - Sandus
That's seriously the argument you're making for Sharp?
"When there's no hitting and the motivation for players is more putting on a good show for the fans as opposed to winning, Patrick Sharp is the best in the world." |

PK is better than Weber, Keith and Doughty?

He didn't say that PK was better. Read it again. |

You should delete it TBH. An all star game MVP doesn't mean much in the NHL, or any pro sport for that manner. - hscesq
MLB and NFL all-star games are getting more intense every year, especially this year pro bowl. But yeah you're right. |

Yeah, I thought about MLB which now "matters". NFL is trying to change. But seeing as players from two best teams don't play in the Pro Bowl.... |

I am not badmouthing him, but my facts are straight. I like Sharp. But the fact remains, he's the third option for defenseman. Not that Sharp isn't a great player, but you could literally plug any decent offensive player into the line of Toews and Hossa and they would put up great numbers.
Its not to say he isn't a good player or diminish what he's done. I really just wanted to make the point that you can't compare his stats to players like Eric Staal who get the main focus of the best defensemen. - James_Tanner
if you can't compare them.. then why are you trying? Sharpe is much faster skater who has a great shot and is better defensively... so far this season Sharp has earned it and Staal... well he's just happy to be playing with his brother. |

Let's not forget all the clutch goals he scored during the hawks second cup win in the past 4 seasons. Guys got a gold medal and two stanley cups and people are questioning why he made the team.

True but i like this year Pro bowl format. It was pretty funny to see Houston crushes Charles. Not sure Dorsey thought the same |

Fantastic blog
I literally agree with every word written.
They just flat out over thought things.
Chris kunitz and jeff carter on the first line of the best team this country could send??
These guys shouldnt even be on the team.
Benching pk in favour of vlasic??
The getzlaf line is most certainly the line that inspires the most confidence
Hall, staal and giroux >>>>>>>>> kunitz, sharp and carter |

I agree with the PK, Kunitz and Price arguments to a certain extent.
I understand that Sid and Kunitz are comfortable playing with each other, but I can't get over the fact that Chris Kunitz will in theory be getting more 5-5 and possibly PP ice time than Tavares, Toews, Getzlaf, Perry, etc.
Now Jeff Carter, seemingly a bubble player, is on that line too, pushing Tavares to the 4th with Bergeron on wing!? That doesn't make sense. To me, a Benn - Bergeron - Sharp 4th line would be awesome, and Tavares needs to be in the top 6.
Fortunately, this is all just based on their first practise and a lot will change by the medal round. I don't think we need to be obsessing over the line combos until we've seen them play together. |

Would you rather have the most talented players over in Russia, or the best team?
Most talent doesn't mean you have the best team. These players are meant to fill roles that the coaching staff has thought about and analyzed very carefully. |

And those assembling "the best team" have been horribly wrong about that in the not so distant past, so why not critique and discuss their decisions? |

Hall and staal cant play physical?
Giroux and staal cant play two ways?
Giroux and hall arent perfect skaters for the big ice?
This 'all star' team argument is so tired.
You havent watched any of those guys play much if you think theyre just one dimensional all star snipers.
Besides, what's team canada if not a collection of all stars?

I love how all the armchair GM's here think they know more than the best minds in hockey. As a huge Hall fan, he didn't deserve to be on this team. He gives the puck away far too often. We couldve sent 2 teams that could easily compete in this tournament. I trust the members of this hockey Canada staff to make the right decisions. All except that piece of sh1t Kevin Lowe. |
