Number one thing wrong this article is your saying chemistry has nothing to do with this tournament and that all world class players can play together. COMPLETELY FALSE! This is not an all star game this is a 7 game tournament with no time for getting aquainted with your linemates. Chris Kunitz is needed for this team because he will get in on the forecheck and backcheck his tail off every chance he gets. For you to even suggest Taylor Hall should be on this team is an absolute joke the guy has no experience what so ever and has done nothing but score a good amount of points this year to warrant a spot on the team. Finally last olympics Crosby struggled and Kunitz is there to make sure Crosby clicks right off the bat because end of the day if Crosby is playing well the gold medal will be Canadas end of story! - CraigB1989
Good of you to join up today. Just sad your first post is wrong on so many levels.....stick around you might learn some things.... |

Let me guess.... Penguin fan?
no one is completely discounting chemistry. I just think it may be abut over stated.
And I think there's been a number of reasonable examples proven in this thread alone |

things to consider.
People are knocking on Jeff Carter, a guy with 2 30+ goal seasons and a 46 goal season. Also has a Stanley cup ring.. you know, the most coveted accomplisment in hockey?
Patrick Sharp - has 2 30+ goal seasons, is on pace for another as he already has 28 this season and has 2 Stanley cup rings.
The team was built on having certain players bring certain characteristics.
You have playmakers, snipers, speed, PP and PK specialists, PMD, Defensive D, faceoff specialists, etc. Players were selected for the combination of skills they provide.
The most controversial seems to be PK Subban, so let's start there. On possession stats, PK rates lower than any other defenceman on the team. In fact, his possession stats at 5 on 5 rate even lower than Phaneufs. For people who watch him, he's prone to costly errors, is caught pinching when he shouldn't, and is sometimes out of position in the defensive zone. Subban will NOT be on the ice during any PKs, or when the team is trying to protect a lead. In fact, he will be a bottom pairing defenceman that will play minimal 5 on 5 situations. Subban however, has the HIGHEST rating in the NHL for 5 on 4 possession and scoring stats. When you get an opportunity to score on a PP, you want a guy like that on your backend. He will quarterback the PP and play in situations with an extra attacker if losing. He was chosen because he is the best of the best at PPs for D, and although a Leaf fan, I can see us being happy he's there. Probably frustrated sometimes as well. |

Your assertion that Sharp "is racking up points" against second tier competition is quite simply wrong. Top line player with 19 and 81 a strong majority of the season... Irritating falseness on your part. |

I'm just glad you can spell the 5 letter, 1 syllable name of a top line player on your favourite team. - 1979AD
He can also spell "favorite" in a way that doesn't accede to anachronistic imperial diction! And I must reiterate two maters of reality: the factuality of the articles opinion on Sharp is indefensible. The author critiqued him under misconceptions of his position on the Hawks roster. This is called being wrong. The article was wrong about Patrick Sharp. Secondly, comparisons with Eric Staal ate not valid. They are dissimilar to such an extent that, Sharp not being an extra forward, there was no competition between those two. Captain Carolina lost out to Bergeron and J.T., not even a contest, he was not a serious candidate.
Kunitz being on this team is disrespectful and if not a flippant joke. Giroux over Carter is the right call. Rick Nash is the sun glee most overrated NHLer. |

As far as I'm concerned, the English should be the ones who have authority over what is proper English, therefore favourite is correct.
That said, I still think my car has tires, not tyres.

Let's not forget all the clutch goals he scored during the hawks second cup win in the past 4 seasons. Guys got a gold medal and two stanley cups and people are questioning why he made the team.
Just Sharp - Ballam
You keep mentioning Sharp was in Vancouver for the gold but he wasn't. That being said I like him on the team this year. |
