His argument was that USA is better at hockey because American teams have won every Cup since 1994. His e-peen no doubtedly shrivelled up like a frightened turtle when he just now realized most players on those teams were Canadian and European. Nothing to do with the Olympics.
Nothing wrong with rooting for your country but claiming this U.S. team is in any way superior to Canada's is laughable at best. - XFactorHabs
So make sweeping generalizations then? Good move...?
I don't give 2 poops where a player is from. If he is wearing a Bruins sweater then I'm rooting for them. Let people make all the claims they want. It doesn't get settled on an internet chat board, it is settled on the ice. |

I'm glad I don't have to cheer for Marchand
Despite the fact he's playing on the 4th line, I think Bergeron is going to have a strong tournament. His game is unbelievable on the big ice. |

To me Marchand is the type of guy I would despise if he was wearing another team's laundry. I get it. He is a world class pest. But for now he's my pest.
Bergy is a face off wizard and can be utilized in any situation. it's killing me to root for Kessel, Kessler and against Bergeron. |

Typical of Americans to have a false sense of pride when these American teams that have all won Cups all have had Canadian and European players at their core. - XFactorHabs
Kings core is a U.S Born goalie, that guy won the cup for the Kings. Oh and a U.S born captain dominated the clinching game.
But keep whistling out of your butt its entertaining |

Nicely put! Much like the Wild acquring Matt Cooke last off season. Hated him, hated the move, but now that he's in a Wild sweater... rooting for him and will defend most anything he does while wearing a Wild sweater.
I don't really care for Marchand either, but I'd root for him if he was a member of the Wild! |

False pride? Pretty sure Hockey is a "team" sport and winning teams cannot be solely attributed to just Canadian, European or American players. I wish I had a dime for everytime some Canadian blow hard thought it was necessary to boast about how superior their hockey players/programs are because they get offended at the mere suggestion that US players are just as good. We get it, Hockey is your sport much like Football and Baseball are American sports. No need to get your panties in a bunch.
Bottom line though is, US hockey is becoming every bit as good as Canadian hockey. US may not have the "best" players in the NHL, but pound for pound they are just as talented and skilled as Canadian born or even European born players are. Didn't used to be that way and now that the US is catching up, some Candian fans get salty about it. |

Ha ha! I do find it funny how citizens of 2 countries so much alike somehow seem to feel so different and superior to one another. |

Try to stay on point. I don't care where players are from either, but arguing that USA is better at hockey than Canada because American teams have won Cups every year since 1994 is like saying Canadians are better at baseball than Americans because in 1992 and 1993 the Blue Jays won the World Series. They were all players from other countries.
So enough with the straw man arguments. If you're going to argue, learn how, or stfu.
Happy Valentines Day. |

Two players are the Kings core?
Ok so let's just take Doughty, Carter, Richards, Clifford, Kopitar, Voynov, Williams, Regehr, etc off your team and see how your "core" fairs then.
Idiot. |

How is this a double standard? Have the Habs won the Cup since 1993? Are the Habs an above average team?
Why don't you learn basic reading comprehension, come back, reread my posts and tell me what you've learned. |

Your first paragraph completely contradicts your second paragraph.
The US cannot both have players "just as talented as Canadian or European born players" and "not have the best players in the NHL". It's really cute that you tried though. Fight for your country! MURICA!
Also, tell you what...since it's Valentine's Day I will make you a deal. When your "just as good as Canadian" players down there in the good old U S of A stop coming up here to Canada to join our hockey programs and play junior hockey in our leagues, then you can make a claim that US hockey is even close to Canadian hockey. How's that sound, sunshine?

Hmm you boo our national anthem but have an American as captain well that is almost the definition of double standards and now I realize why the rest of Canada hate Quebecer's you seem have the classic little Frenchman's syndrome and spewing those derogatory comments like you are more "educated" Hah please don't make me laugh so typical for a Frenchie so, yeah Hockey you can compete with "Murica but, now surrendering or cooking hey you win everytime! |

Ohhhhhh, now it all makes perfect sense! So is that why the guy dubbed the best player in Hockey and the face of the NHL not to mention the pride of Canada and the captain of your Olympic team chose to come to Minnesota, which, if my 4th grade level geography is correct, is in fact in the USA, to attend one of the most prestigious hockey programs in North America?!
Kind of weird don't you think? With all the superior Canadian hockey programs, why would the best Candadian player in the NHL/arguably the world leave his beloved homeland, the hockey Mecca of the world to go to the US where our programs are so inferior?
I know, that's a lot of information to take in and your head is probably about to explode, but there will be brighter days ahead my friend! Can't wait to hear this excuse... |

I am neither French Canadian, nor one of the people who booed your anthem, so your ad hominem logic is thrice fallacious.
Also for someone who is crying based on your false perception that I am dismissing your arguments because you are American, you sure have no problem attacking French Canadians for some reason. That makes you a hypocrite. Enjoy.
PS there was no reason to put quotations around "educated" (quotations are the little "bunny ears" in case you had trouble with that big word). I hope you can appreciate the irony of your error as much as I can. |
