theyre worse. i think the jagr flyers jersey would be the worst of all. a rinaldo jersey i could laugh off, a jagr flyers jersey is wrong. - stayinthefnnet
Exactly. You were saying yesterday or the day before that you didn't actually HATE Hartnell, but that you did hate Rinaldo. |

If I remember correctly, that trade actually worked out better for Dallas for the remainder of the season. GoGo had some fairly good numbers in Dallas and I think Neal had 1 goal for Pittsburgh. Of course, since then, it's been as one-sided as it appeared. - jmatchett383
correct. so much for trying to get a young winger for crosby. with him out, the chemistry developed with malkin and bam. niskanen went from a throw in reclamation project, to a decent little player, to a good one, to one who will be overpaid. |

it would have appeared blasphemy before, but i can see orpik moving on. - stayinthefnnet
Orpik is the kind of guy that will probably play in the league as long as his body can withstand it. May not finish with the Pens, but he brings intangibles that GM's would probably covet even as his skills start to fade. |

He has very good chemistry with Martin. I don't think the Pens can sign either Orpik or Niskanen. |

exactly. i dislike hartnell solely because hes just that thorn in the side for the rival. to me, it would be illogical and just dump to be like oh i legitimately hate him. my problem with many fans is that they say they hate just because of the sweater. and thats dumb. either the person is just stupid, or their emotional labeling is so hyperbolic to the point it means nothing.
so yes, long story short, i dont hate hartnell. i hate rinaldo. |

i think one stays, and one goes. honestly, even if both left, i dont think it will be the end of the world. trying to find a way to keep both will cause a problem. |

With the AHL All Stars defense corps ready to be called up, they could probably survive it. |

I think Maata has made things easier. Niskanen is going to really get paid. It may be better to keep Orpik at a nice rate and nice contract length.

Interesting. Kovar seemed to struggle. Pavelec is inconsistent, but he has the ability to have extraordinary games. He seemed more logical against a strong opponent. |

length for orpik will need to be on the smaller side, likely creating a higher AAV.
what works in orpik's favor is his chemistry with martin. that could help his case.
they still have scuderi too. and god damn it, its time for some despres |

Mr. stayinthefnnet, question for you: With the rest of the lienup being equal, and not taking past success or failures into account, do you think the Penguins would do better against a Giroux-led Flyers team or a Richards-led Flyers team? |

They can amnesty him under that circumstance. Is that a possibility? I was under the impression he will be fine. - PhillySportsGuy
Yeah, it's not hockey related. Not a head injury, per se. It was caused by a congenital heart defect that can be surgically repaired. So I'd be surprised if he chose not to continue to play. |

hm okay i suck with hypos because i need to know like every possible variable and i gut the fun of it for most people, but i will try to go along if you will indulge me.
when you say led, does that imply that the other is on the team but just not the vocal leader, or not there at all? and if the latter, for richards, is this richards in his heyday, or now? i dont know the full level of his decline, but it does seem to be obvious he isnt totally the same guy now |

I love how seeing two people out at a bar one night being repeatedly copied from blog to blog becomes some big love affair. All we've got is one night they had drinks at a bar. That's it. |

The only reason I mentioned it, and the only way he would choose not to play, is if he's worried that the physical exertion requires to both stay in peak physical condition 365 days a year plus playing 82+ games + practicing, which may put undue stress on his heart and/or head. |

Forgot about Scuderi. You guys should be ok without Niskanen and Orpik unless Maata takes a step back and multiple, long-term injuries occur. You guys also have Pouliot coming up. Do the pens ever run out of offensive defenseman? |

Why would they have to? If he chooses not to play, he just retires and comes off the Cap.
