hm okay i suck with hypos because i need to know like every possible variable and i gut the fun of it for most people, but i will try to go along if you will indulge me.
when you say led, does that imply that the other is on the team but just not the vocal leader, or not there at all? and if the latter, for richards, is this richards in his heyday, or now? i dont know the full level of his decline, but it does seem to be obvious he isnt totally the same guy now - stayinthefnnet
Okay, to be clear: you have the 11-12 Flyers as they were (Giroux was the de-facto leader by that point), or you can have the 11-12 Flyers where Giroux is replaced by the 07/08-09/10 version of Richards. |

Interesting. Kovar seemed to struggle. Pavelec is inconsistent, but he has the ability to have extraordinary games. He seemed more logical against a strong opponent. - PhillySportsGuy
Maybe the Czech Republic is treating this first game as a "get your feet wet" kind of thing?

Why would they have to? If he chooses not to play, he just retires and comes off the Cap. - MJL
Then he's giving up a lot of money. Wouldn't the pens have to suspend him or pay him? |

I love how seeing two people out at a bar one night being repeatedly copied from blog to blog becomes some big love affair. All we've got is one night they had drinks at a bar. That's it. - bodiva88
they could have never even been in the same hemisphere at the same time, and it does not change the fact that in order to have intercourse with that inordinately attractive woman i would wear the hockey sweater of a player i am not particularly fond of while simultaneously displaying the colors of my least favorite hockey team for a period no shorter than thirty days. |

What about wearing an Ovechkin jersey with a Yankees hat? And you have to wear them 24/7 minus bathing. |

The only reason I mentioned it, and the only way he would choose not to play, is if he's worried that the physical exertion requires to both stay in peak physical condition 365 days a year plus playing 82+ games + practicing, which may put undue stress on his heart and/or head. - jmatchett383
It's not that kind of thing. This thing Letang has is not major surgery and shouldn't really be an issue at all hampering him once repaired. Bruski came back and played 3 more seasons of NFL football after his (and it sounds like Letang had a less severe stroke--no paralysis, whereas Bruschi had some). |

Didn't a Detroit player (Ward?) have a stroke in-game and never play again? |

The biggest negative effect of her presence is that now every woman weather broadcaster in Philadelphia is wearing the same shirts/dresses. It's like a drapey ruched weather uniform. My eyes they do roll. |

Well, that's my question. If he's medically cleared, but decides (for some reason) to not play, and doesn't retire...do they have to either suspend him or pay him? |

its difficult for me to totally discount that series and answer as objectively as possible. if the pens totally lose their cool like they did that series, the flyers ship captained by either player still wins that series. but lets say that series was to be played ten times over, the question itself is an interesting one.
giroux by this point has turned into a solid, flashy, skill guy capable of beating a defense and creating for his line, as shown. but in a talent driven matchup played over a sample size in which the penguins retain mental function, i think a strong argument can be made that richards actually provides a more difficult match up for the pens. his two way game and grit would have been hard for the pens to match, and his defense could combine with couturiers to combat crosby and malkin. his contributions to the PK would help as well. |
