I remember meeting Nedved in Seatlle, I was down visiting my buddy Darcy Simon, quiet guy but very nice. That was a long time ago! Very skilled player!

I miss the NHL and my failing hockey team

Don't be so hard on yourself, you're still in 7th out of 20 teams...

I was at the Stanley Cup final in 94 with my dad. Section Y row 12 seat 1 and 2 of the Coliseum (in the corner). I forget what game it was, but Nedved walked down the aisle right beside us, and I said to my dad, look it's Petr Nedved. Everyone around us started chanting "thank you petr", then the entire coliseum was chanting it.

*in reference to asking for a trade and us getting Brown and Lafayette I believe.

"Russia and Canada didn't dish out the lickings that were expected on Slovenia and Norway, respectively, but neither game was really in doubt. Winning by identical scores of 3-1, the margins were just a bit closer than most people had expected."

Russia 5. Slovenia 2.

Agreed.

Much rather be watching and chatting about the NHL.

Hope this is the last Olympics NHLers attend.

I highly doubt the NHL Owners are gonna want to send their players to Korea.

So we can talk about losing games 3-1 instead of winning them.

I still prefer talking about a losing NHL team than this international stuff. The NHL is more interesting and entertaining.

I've stayed a Canuck fan through worse teams and worse losing stretches.

I don't buy all this doom and gloom, and female doging and moaning. Could be much worse.

I think this Olympic break came at a perfect time. Most of us were getting sick and tired of watching the Canucks, hopefully we will all be refreshed and come back in 10 days to exciting hockey.

Not sure if I agree (about the NHL being more entertaining) but I do have to say this Olympic one-game knockout format really proves nothing in the grand scheme of things, except perhaps that the stars aligned for a particular team (i.e. bounces, limited injuries, luck, refereeing, certain favourable match-ups, a suddenly hot goaltender etc etc). Unfortunately it's impossible to play a best of 5 or even 3, but that would be a substantially better gauge as to which team is better and deserves to be called the best. Let's face it, absolutely anything can happen or go wrong in a single game (and usually does), and that, as a fan, is extremely frustrating.

So, factoring all that in, congratulations Kazakhstan for very likely winning Olympic Hockey Gold in 2018!!

NFL, World Cup of Soccer, Euro Cup... it's a nice change to the 7 game series. Something different, you know.

I agree, but different isn't necessarily better. As touched on, I think in a one game knockout there is any possibility that an overwhelming favourite, dominant team can get ousted. I think most people might agree that winning one game doesn't reallly prove anything. It just means that the stars aligned for that moment for a particular team. However, let them play even a short series and the better team will pretty much always come out on top

Yeah, the format is one of the reasons I'm not that into Olympic hockey. The NHL offers much more opportunity for "story lines" with more games, players, and teams.

Maybe I'm just not "patriotic."

I dislike too many guys on the team and don't feel any real connection because I was born on the same massive land mass.

Obviously it's the team I cheer for every 4 years, but I've got much more invested in my NHL team than team Canada.

I'd rather it be U-20s competing for the medal, so I still have NHL games to watch at the same time.

Hard to argue against the results but Janny was a super under rated player. Came off as a bit©h during that fiasco but a wonderful play maker
