Raymond can play on the 3rd line (unless you add somebody better) and is better suited to take some shift in the top 6 than Smith et al. if an injury would occur.

You must really really want that 2nd or 3rd pick.

You add guys for depth for a playoff run when you're expecting your team to make a real run.

Teams like Chicago, Boston, LA and Pitts add depth like Raymond for a 1st or 2nd round pick.
