so you're logic is to never put a prospect in the playoffs because they lack playoff experience.. yet they cant get playoff experience without being played in the playoffs?

thats a catch 22 if i ever heard one.

sometimes you just got to roll the dice. raymond is a soft winger who is playing ion the checking line.. its time to move him.

- Dozzer

No, simply that the Leafs don't have any prospects that we can assuredly say are ready for a playoff role. That being said ...I haven't watched a minute of Leivo in the Ahl ...but I'm not ready to presume he's ready.

That 2nd round pick will be more useful in his career than Raymond.

40 point players who add nothing but offense dont do well in playoffs.

Raymond has been invisible on the 2nd line for months now. So you expect him to magically produce in a top 6 role in the playoffs when things are intensified?

Please.

- jbold

In the past 19 games (two months)....he has 9 points.

So again....not invisible.

But we will see come March 5th.

ok ok ok i apologize for the grateful dead crack.. it wasnt intended to be taken personally.. so i am sorry.

i just dont like the idea.. of having mason raymond in a checking role for the leafs come the playoffs. i would much rather a kid who is good at checking and has been groomed for the role be put in there.

varying opinions is what we have here.. nothing more.

- Dozzer

With all the injuries this year to bottom 6 I assume that "if" we had a young prospect groomed and ready for a bottom 6 role he would have been playing. Ideally, they'll carry 14 forwards plus have a couple of Marlies ready to shuttle up.

Edit: And I love the Grateful Dead. Well, love may be stretching things but they've got some underrated stuff.

Just being announced right now

13B deal with South Arabia

February 14, 2014 - London, Ontario - Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada
The Honourable Ed Fast, Minister of International Trade, and Danny Deep, Vice President, General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada, announced today a historic multi-billion dollar contract win for vehicles and associated equipment, training and support services.
The announcement was made in London, Ontario, where the light armoured vehicles will be designed and manufactured and which will become the epicentre of a cross-Canada supply chain directly benefiting more than 500 local Canadian firms.
This 14-year contract will create and sustain more than 3,000 jobs each year in Canada, with southern Ontario accounting for approximately 40 percent of the supply base.
Facilitated by the Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC), the Government of Canada’s international government-to-government contracting organization, the contract is with Saudi Arabia, a priority market under the government’s new Global Markets Action Plan.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary and the RCMP have confiscated a significant amount of marijuana that was being trucked across the island from Nova Scotia.

Police found 46 kilograms of marijuana in sealed plastic bags, as well as three kilograms of hash. The drugs were inside a wooden crate in the back of the truck

fair enough

i am of the belief that sometimes you need to throw caution to the wind and just toss a guy in there and see how he does.

those types of gambles have a way of paying off

admittedly.. they can burn you as well.

if raymond was being used in the top 6 I would be fine with him.. but as a checker.. i dont like it. just opinion is all.

I don't think Leivo is ready to replace any of the pending UFA's for the playoffs, but after an AHL playoff run, he might be ready to be a Leaf next season.

No....but make sure the rookie has some regular games experience...more than 10 before switching gears mid season.

True....I understand that.
But in the plaoffs people get injured...if anyone in our top six gets injured.....Raymond could fill the gap on the 2nd line. He's good depth.

I don't really think Holland is ready for the NHL. He played alright for a kid, but when bozak was out, that line dropped off the map production wise and the team lost a pile of games.

Id like to see him earn a chance, not given one. And I think he's been given the ice time he earned already. I see nothing wrong with easing him in, and give him time with the bug club when he's playing well and there is room.

I think its pretty clear mason Raymond is better than both of them at this point.

You guys get way too enamoured with the shiny new toy sometimes.

we have tho?

leivo has played.. holland has played.. d'amigo has played... broll has played... mckegg has played... abbot has played... devane has played.. smithson has played..

they rotate these guys so that they dont chew up their waiver free status.

but to say the leafs havent been using marlies is simply untrue.

I don't think it's clear that he's better at this point..... that's why im saying move him for an asset. He wouldn't be missed.

Yeah I don't get it. They've been getting their chances, but haven't been dumped into the NHL.

Sometimes there is just no pleasing Leafs fans. 5 years ago they were complaining that guys should be brought up slower and earn their chance. But they were getting dumped in because the leafs had no depth. Now they get eased in and people beeatch that they're not getting their chance. But THEY ARE.

Funny how so many yap that they want to emulate the Wings. Then when they do anything similar its all wrong.

We could.
But this year Raymond has a better offensive upside....but Kule has a better defensive upside.

Unless players are moved for better players....I dont think Kule or Mason get moved at the deadline.

I really think Franson could be moved for a defensive dman.

But who knows
