i always said before this year i wanted a niskanen for read swap.
but yeah. his utter refusal to entertain the notion of morin being involved in a deal with weber, combined by what he honestly thinks he could be had for should he be available, like jesus christ. i dont know if he is genuinely that out of touch or is just trying to be controversial.
if you guys can get weber, and morin is a potential snag in the deal, someone needs to be fired - stayinthefnnet
I know. Its nice to have Bill as the voice of reason. In reality, any player on the team should be on the table if Weber became available. That includes Giroux. I know a lot of people who would make a G for Weber deal. I wouldn't, but I suspect a lot of knowledgable Flyers fans would. |

logically it make sense to do it. i dont think i would, just given the fact that the emotions of trading your captain yet again and all. i dont know. i think you pull out all of the stops of other guys, be it a combination of coots, schenn, jake, or simmonds, and picks, to get him there to put in the back of a giroux led team. you have your two superstars and go from there. |

i think its pretty dead by now too. but just reading that article, its one thing to have some high hopes for morin, but to think that he would be a potential holdup in a deal for weber should it otherwise be plausible? come on... |

The problem for the Flyers is there lack of organizational depth. They have some potential guys who are still 2-3 years from making an impact. If you trade guys from the current roster, they will be tough to replace.
By the time you'd have a decent group of complimentary pieces, Giroux and Weber would be 30. |

Coburn + 2014 1st for Dougie Hamilton
B. Schenn for Roman Josi
Couturier + Ghost + 2014 1st for PK Subban
Ghost + Laughton + 2015 2nd for Nick Leddy
Timonen + 2015 1st for H. Lindholm
B. Schenn for Tyler Myers
These interest anyone? - PhillySportsGuy
1) Yes. Dougie Hamilton has great talent who I believe will surpass Coburn
2) Hell Yes. But I love Josi so take that with a grain of salt.
3) It would hurt, but yes. You cant say no to the opportunity of getting Subban for Couts and prospects
4)No. I'm impressed with Leddy but not enough to trade away some of our best prospects.
5) YES. I love Hampus Lindholm. I dont think he gets nearly enough praise for being the young stud defenseman that he is. I doubt Anaheim would do this deal though. We would probably have to add.
6) Maybe. I hear Myers is playing better, but he worries me. It would honestly take a lot of thought.
Love the proposals |

There is no way I'd make the Leddy trade.

Hopefully Giroux's career will be Datysukian.
I was talking about the possible penalty on the Flyers if Nashville hadn't matched, and the penalty Nashville may face. I don't think they will trade Weber anywhere. If they want help up front they could trade Josi or Jones and get good forwards back. - Feanor
Okay on the match. They could trade Josi or Jones and get good forwards. But trading Weber would get a bigger haul. They aren't close to winning. They don't have the forwards. From a Hockey standpoint, I'd trade Weber and rebuild. From a business standpoint, it might be different.

He does a lot to piss me off. Even when he writes an article, I agree with, I still hate him. I guess its a bit unfair, but he's done it to himself.
I was going to include Maata in a deal like Simmonds + Read for Maata + Sutter. Most people already disagreed with me on that one so I left it out. I think it would be reasonable, but I doubt the Pens and Flyers make a deal like that together. - PhillySportsGuy
I think Penguins fans would hate that deal far more than Flyers fans. Maatta is actually a demigod, little known fact. |

Agree with Morin, overall in the majority of games I've watched of Morin he's been decent. - ob18
At his size, I thought Morin could really skate. Even if his offensive game doesn't develop all that much in the pros, I think a bigger, meaner, and maybe slightly less mobile version of Coburn would be pretty useful. |

I'd do that one all day long -- RH'd, young, cheap, immensely talented, driven, smart -- love everything about Hamilton. Hell, I'd retain salary on Coburn to make it happen.
The others scare me... not keen on trading anymore kids and watching them come back to torture us. |

All of the trades would result in acquiring a young, quality defenseman. Obviously, some are more proven and some have a higher upside. |

Most people agree with your assessment. I don't want people to think this kid is the 2nd coming of Jesus Pronger. Panaccio made it seem like Morin is totally off the board in any trade proposal. |

Have you noticed posts mocking the "Maatta = Lidstrom" comparisons vary inversely with posts authored by Oneonta Penguin (especially those regarding a Couturier to Ron Francis comparison)? It's an interesting phenomenon.

true, but the rest would be closer to filler than to quality asset at that point. definitely good rank and file parts, but not something that would be impossible to replace. short of three of the four core forwards, i think a deal bringing weber in brings in more positive than causes organizational depth issues |
