Laughton and Oshawa lost 6-3 to Zadorov and London. Zadorov was on the ice for every goal scored in the game except 1. He was on the ice for 3 goals against and 5 goals scored. Very strange. |

i would take that risk given the opportunity to acquire the big fish in weber - stayinthefnnet
I understand what you're saying. You need to understand from our point of view though. The Flyers have always sacrificed future for now. They continually trade picks, prospects for the big fish. It forces them into overpaying for free agents. Its the perpetual problem of the organization.
In fact, the only thing thats kept this team afloat through the years has been their ability to find really good forwards in the mid-late first round. Without finding gems like Justin Williams, Gagne, Richards, Carter, Giroux, they would be a sad organization. |

Most people agree with your assessment. I don't want people to think this kid is the 2nd coming of Jesus Pronger. Panaccio made it seem like Morin is totally off the board in any trade proposal. - PhillySportsGuy
Why would anyone take Panaccio seriously in the 1st place? |

In their defense, that strategy made much more sense in the pre salary cap era |

I know. Money wasn't a big deal back then. If you needed help on defense, just overpay for one.
Now, the most important pieces are young players who are on ELCs or bridge contracts who can contribute now. |

We're looking at about 9 years now with the Salary cap. And the Cap hasn't prevented the Flyers from making the moves they want to make. And from using all available resources to acquire players. I for one hope that they continue to be aggressive in trying to win now.

So general consensus on the proposals from everyone went like this:
Hamilton - Yes
Josi - Mostly Yes
Subban - Mostly Yes
Leddy - Completely No
Lindholm - Completely yes, but would cost more
Myers - Maybe, but leaning more towards yes

i can definitely see the trepidation. and im not even certain its the right route myself. but i just know given the opportunity, i would. you still have giroux, and at least two of the other young forwards. so say giroux, coots, simmonds all still remain. read is still there. im a believer in laughton. thats still at the very least a decent young core. for the time being you still can get passable production from guys like vinny and hartnell to help tide things over. bringing in weber not only adds himself to the back end, but enables coburn to not be the main guy as well, which will only make him even better. |

How do you know the cap hasn't withheld them from making moves? I'm pretty sure they would have attempted to sign BOTH Parise and Suter if they could have. |

id take that hamilton deal and run with it. the josi deal i think is one of the best deals for both sides that ive seen proposed. im a big fan of that one as far as just an objective hockey trade. |

Re-signing Matt Carle before July 1? Dan Cleary? I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting, and plenty more we don't even know about. |

Technically, yes, but it was an either/or type deal. They couldn't sign both, but they wanted to sign one or the other. I'm pretty sure they would have offered both a deal if they had the money. It was pretty well known that they wanted to play together. |

Absolutely!
Heck, without a cap they might have offered Weber a 30 million signing bonus and all but forced Nashville into a deal |

I don't know of any moves that they wanted to make but couldn't make because of the Cap. Every year they sign top free agents, make trades etc. The Cap hasn't stopped them from making those moves. The Flyers made bonafide offers to both Suter and Parise.

Not to be a Richard, but can you show me anything saying it was an either/or situation? I don't recall anything like that, just the Flyers giving the biggest offers to both. |
