There doesn't seem to be an absolute consensus as to the origins of pierogies (with quite a few Eastern European countries staking them as their own - although Poland, Ukraine and Slovaks are at the top of the list). That said, there are theories that they actually originated in the far east - China/Japan (the 'pierogie' being inherited from the gyoza/dumpling)

As far as Montreal, at least there is the legacy of the marvel of engineering that is the Olympic stadium . Free concrete for all!

One thing i don't get about all the lost money concerns related to Olympics games is that i thought a large fraction of the revenue used to create the games in any country is financed and supported by corporate entities in the interests of advertising/marketing?

Best i ever had was stuffed with potato, bacon, cheese and garlic ( more of an American style i suppose)

But yes, Montreal has some of the best, most diverse food possibilities imaginable that is unlike anything i have ever seen in the likes of Ottawa/Toronto/Vancouver.

KHL might want to move in after? They can also transform the village into a winter sports training haven.

I hope they do have some sort of plan for Sochi post olympics because the place is now apart of sporting history.
