I'm sure you will, I think they are trying to copy the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, which also has a hotel with changing lights on the roof and goes by the marina. Every one is trying to capture the Monaco experience, which is more of a show and less of a race, in fact, it's the slowest track on the calendar. I can't wait, 23 days until the first race of the year.

I think Olympics rarely have a long lasting effect on any city asides from the debt they leave in their wake. The games and the IOC have become laughably corrupt and self-serving and more of a chest beating spectacle for the host country than any sort of real athletic competition, unless Im supposed to buy that there is real validity to removing wrestling and allowing trampoline and speed walking. Don't even get me started on figure skating. My favorite is when they refer to a country's human rights record as a mitigating factor. Beijing. Sochi. Rio. and those are just the recent ones. It's a joke.

That said, the Vancouver Olympics were excellently done. One of the best ever imo.

1976? Don't need to go back that far. A friend was in ticket management for Van's winter games and he said the abuse was absurd. So much money just disappeared. Problem is that the Olympics are not subject to any type of creditable audit.
I work for the government managing health care capital construction projects and anything over $10 million gets an automatic audit. And it's brutal.
How a Federal/Provincial/Municipal project like the Olympics avoids this is astonishing.

Lottery pick. Every team that doesn't make the playoffs has the potential to move up because of the draft lottery. If we finish just ahead of the Islanders, and the lottery goes out way, we could picking quite high in the draft.

Of course, we all know that Bettman won't let that happen, so we'll probably end up picking 15th.

At the TDL I don't see anything happening; Mike Gillis will give the world his lip-service about how injuries really hurt the chances of the team this year, which they did to a certain degree, meanwhile he'll be hoping like hell they make the 9th spot to keep FA happy.

Apparently, and take it for what it's worth considering the source, Doug Maclean was on the 1040 afternoon show yesterday saying that MG has potential deals working that could shock a lot of people. I doubt MG pulls the trigger on something like that; he doesn't have the stones to do something like that. Unless super fan FA is preaching tank nation like the rest of us!

I'd say it's more like watching the movie "Titanic" rather than watching a Soap Opera. 3 hours of misery; watching the talent poor inter-miggling with the talent rich, only to watch a catastrophe unravel before our eyes that could have been totally avoided if not for arrogance and a lack of common sense.
