I never liked that, because you could comb through enough video to find that sort of play or any player, whether it's Zherdev or Datsyuk. - jmatchett383
I think its fair to call out players for a lack of effort. It seems to happen a lot with Ovechkin.
I just don't see them calling out many Americans or Canadians. Ive seen plenty of times where Giroux wasn't busting it to get back into the play on defense.
Its fair to say that the NA analysts look to criticize Russian players more than others. |

Internet scuttlebutt is there was just an earthquake in Philly. Can anyone confirm? - PLindbergh31
I don't know about that, but where I work, the entire building was shaken after a loud clap of thunder.

Eh, to each their own. I just thought the hype of the Ovie controller thing was a bit overplayed. |

Its not even raining down the shore in AC. Is it that bad in Philly? - PhillySportsGuy
Just rain and thunder as far as I can tell. It's a bit warm too, so maybe some of this damn ice will go away. |

Me too.
Also, it will totally justify my decision to not shovel my sidewalk after the last storm. |

Giroux gets criticized on here quite often for his lack of hustle. But usually it's only after we lose, or on a play where he's at the end of a shift and chasing a fresher player. Or something like the Kesler goal, which was somehow primarily his fault. |

Guess it was only thunder. But the strangest thunder I hav ever experienced. Lasted 45 seconds and toppled two lamps in the house. |

I think it was just a big thunder clap that may have registered on the richter scale. Not really an eartquake due to the movement of the Earth's plates. |

I just feel the analysts relish the opportunity to criticize a Russian.
Every penalty taken by a Russian is a "stupid" penalty. When Getzlaf trips someone in the offensive zone its because "he got his stick in a bad spot" |

Guess I was far from the epicenter then.
Here in lovely west Philly it was a typical July thunder crash.
Seriously people?? |

My justification was, "I'm the only one in the house who's done any shoveling this winter, and also there's nowhere left to put this poop." |

They absolutely do. Russians just get viewed generally as one-way players who are only concerned with finesse and don't care to learn to play good defense. And, to an extent, I think that's the case more often with Russians that N.A. or Scandinavian players. |

Agreed. I'm always down for a good laugh, but the "Lazy Russians, not as tough as those hard working Canadian boys" narrative is beyond old. |

Malkin had to tell Bilyaletdinov to get Bobrovsky off the ice. Malkin had to tell the coach. I repeat, Malkin had to tell the coach. |

I blame it on those "natural supplements" they shot into him. Caused his head to expand and his balls to shrivel up. Also, the fact that he didn't walk in the snow with a log across his shoulders probably hurt him, as well. |

I agree about many of the Russian stars. They need to develop players who have a more all around game and are willing to be physical. Not 'open ice hit' physical. 'Win puck battles behind the net' physical.
You look at all the stars and talent they had and it was really only Datsyuk and Radulov who stood out. |
