I was referring to negotiations to acquire Weber. I'm sure the Flyers had been kicking the tires on Weber for a while and JVR was probably involved in those trade proposals.

It can take defenseman much longer to develop. Especially, defensive defenseman.

I'm not saying Schenn is going to be a top pairing guy. I just don't think we've seen the best of Schenn yet.

I don't think Schenn will ever provide much offense, but I do think he can be part of a very good shutdown pairing as long as he's paired with an good partner.

JVR is outplaying Kane IMO in the Olympics. Kane looks like he is being a bit selfish. Trying to do it all on his own.

Wasn't there some references to Pronger kind of mentoring/working with Schenn last year in an off-ice capacity? If so, I'm wondering if he'd be willing to work with some of the defensemen part-time as a (non-paid) consultant. Just about positioning, reading plays, energy management, etc.

amazing. what a choke job on the bad coverage for the tying goal. the whole (frank)ing team was on the left side of the ice, and vetter deflects the cross ice pass right into the slot for the goal.

So by his 4th season, Chara was already a consistent big minute defensive defenseman. By his 6th season he would pretty much become a double digit goal 40 pt guy. Point of the story is by his 6th season, Chara was who he was going to be at the NHL level. That does not bode well for L. Schenns future. Please find a guy who improved from professional year 7 on because that is what Schenn has to do to be more than what he is this year.
