I don't think Gillis is in the tough position many fans seem to think he is. If he doesn't trade his prospects and picks for a rental, and misses the playoffs due to the number of injuries the team has sustained, he won't be fired. As long as he continues to show improvement, he won't be fired.
There are no surprises or secrets between ownership and Gillis. They communicate very regularly. Firing him would be a knee jerk reaction by ownership. Make no mistake about it, he is their hand picked guy. - KB3Point0
Money is a great motivator. If ownership loses money from missed playoffs MG will be on the outs.
Speaking of hand picked guys for GM...The era of Yzerman, Sakic, Shanny produced some great leaders. How about we take a run at getting Ray Bourque as the replacement GM for MG? |

My son who watches quite a bit of hockey league wide thinks that Torts will be let go soon ,before the end of next year. He believes he has stimied Canucks talent and style of play.
Myself I think this teams core needs a huge shakeup and is beyond stale now. Will be interesting to see.
I do know over the last two months we have been the worst team in the league. |

I agree with you on this, GMMG is in not danger of losing his job. They appear to be a tight group, ownership and management.
He's got injuries and a few other things he can attribute to the poor year, next playoff year may be a different story if things don't change though? |

No way he gets replaced this season. Far too many variables. Does ownership want him to sacrifice the future to sneak into the playoffs? No. They aren't stupid and he's made them well aware what the situation is.
You're right, money is a great motivator. I think they'll take playoff money for the next decade and sacrifice one year if they have to instead of money this year and into the crapper for the next 5. |

They've been stale for quite sometime. Changes will be much easier to come by this offseason than for the past two. They're much needed.
Also, no way Torts is fired this soon. Injuries have stymied the Canucks talent and style more than Torts. |

Agreed. As long as he continues to improve the team this offseason, which should be very doable when compared to the past two seasons, his job is safe. But he does need to improve the team. Ownership likely won't stand for an additional step back next season. |

How about the cross ice pass after that was so telegraphed a novice player would have intercepted......

If that piece of garbage is the 14th best forward we can find then we aren't near as deep as people think.
I don't know what the fuci he was arguing about. Puck covered, whistle went and he proceeds to slash Quick. Might as well have left both him and Crosby home |
