I just hate having particular guys singled out and I don't think JVR is close to being the face of USA hockey. Guys like Pavelski, Parise, Kane and Kesler are all better forwards than him. Suter is the best player on the team.

It just comes across as the same hatred people had for JVR when he was here.

- PhillySportsGuy

When a guy fails to step up, or plays poorly, I fail to see why he shouldn't face criticism. I don't agree with unfair criticism, but I don't see that anyone was unfair in their criticism of JvR's or Kane's level of play in today's game.

Expressing disappointment that two guys who had played noticeably well in prior games and then had more of a drop off than other players did, from prior games.

This.

I didn't say it that well, but I really wanted them to play better and accept the mantle of responsibility/leadership.

I thought some of the older players would have difficulty scoring today. I was truly hoping that JVR, Kane, Kessel...I was hoping they would get it done.

Personally, I freaking hate losing to Canada. Respect them immensely. But it effing sucks losing to them. It really does.

Well if you're looking to those 3 as your leaders, then I don't know why. I would pick 5 USA players before naming one of them the captain.

I don't think that's what he's saying at all. He's simply saying that those players will be in their early 30's next Olympics. Nothing more then that. Team USA needed a lot of players to step up. Defenseman can also score goals.
- MJL

Well, considering he's talking about replacing them with Seth Jones, Jacob Trouba, Alex Galchenyuk and Derek Stepan, maybe your interpretation isn't as accurate as you would like.

I agree that the USA needed to step up and just find a way to score. They needed to get more going to the net and make life more difficult for Price. I just don't see why, specifically, Kane and JVR needed to be the ones creating chances. Why mention their names? I can see Kane because he's the best offensive player on the team, but why mention JVR? There are several other scorers.

Rimouski's goalie is on a QMJHL record shutout streak? Morin shutting poop down?

He's done well..........And I believe you mean Philippe Desrosiers (A Dallas prospect)

My interpretation is based on what you posted. What you posted didn't say anything about Jones, Trouba, or any other player. If there's more to the statement, then that might change my interpretation. But that wasn't posted.

I think it has more to do with time flying.

Those guys are still in their mid-late 20s. I wouldn't be starting a rough draft of their eulogy quite yet.

Yes I do mean him. I just assume a goalie on a record shutout streak must be playing in front of some good shutdown defense.

Again: Your opinion about who you would pick. You're allowed to have it. But in my opinion, I was hoping that JVR, Kessel and Kane would play better today!

Again, I don't think Brian Burke was watching the game, happy as can be that players you prefer or players that I wanted to play well, didn't!

Again, I see a reason for mentioning JvR because in prior games in this tourney and his drop off in the Canada game was more noticeable than several other players. He played a big role up to today and he really played poorly.

That marked drop off was far more noticeable than the difference in the level of play of most of the team in previous games and today's game.

Soooooo any interest in adding erhoff to the team? I think he could take up much of what kimmo has brought to the team the last few seasons.

They've been playing some good hockey from the games I've watched. Good time to make a push for the playoffs.

It seems to be the nightmare scenario for the brass... one shot away from the goal medal game against their arch-rivals... and they decided to leave the best US goal-scorer at home.

Meanwhile, Blake Wheeler sees less ice than Jay Rosehill (1:35).

i was kind of hoping it went that way fro canada for taking kunitz and not giroux. imagine the points g would have if he played w/ crosby all the time

Must keep in mind the cap recapture with that one. Because of that I'd have some pause.

How old is he when it expires? I heard Buffalo may consider an amnesty on him. I imagine Leino will be receiving on as well.
