Soooooo any interest in adding erhoff to the team? I think he could take up much of what kimmo has brought to the team the last few seasons. - twotoekenn
Yes. He's a good defenseman, fills a need and despite the length of his contract, the cap hit is fantastic for what he brings. |

He's 31 now.......Still has 7 years plus the remainder of this one left. - ob18
If the Sabers were willing to part with him for a reasonable price, I would. I think he could play until 38 years old. He's a solid two-way defenseman. Thats a major need for this team now and in the future. |

I know. I just hate when people single out certain players. Even if you don't mean to call them out, it ends up sounding that way. The entire team needed to do a better job in their own end. Team USA spent way too much time playing defense. They needed to find ways to get better numbers going the other way. Its difficult to score against a great defense when your team is constantly outnumbered on offensive rushes. - PhillySportsGuy
i don't know. i think you can single out benn for canada. he makes a good pass that turns into a great play because he skates to the slot and finished it off. i think it fair to say some of the us "main guys" didn't do as much today. |

I don't consider JVR any better than any other forward in the top 6. Thats why I don't feel he should have been singled out unless you felt he played much worse than the other US top 6 forwards. |

maybe it's because he had played pretty well, as you pointed out, that some expected him to be a factor? |

Ok. We've gone our 12 rounds. Im done with this. I think we just have different expectations for JVR. - PhillySportsGuy
Expectations really have little to do with it.
JvR plays well for the opening 4 or 5 games of the tournament, in what was pretty much a first line role, then in the semi-final game, he plays a pretty poor one. The hope was he'd continue to play at the high level he showed in the previous games, and instead, he suffered a noticeable decline.
That's the point that was being made. The guy seemed as if he was stepping up and pressing to grab a leading role, and rather than hitting the bigger stage with a good performance, he played his worst game of the tourney by far.
It's expressing disappointment that he was unable to provide the same level of play against a better opponent in the game that saw his team get eliminated and outplayed. |

What about Backes? He was a monster in the last game. And Kessel? A hat trick. |

This is classic jvr, plays great for a stretch then disappears. |

JVR had a bad game. So did most of the US forwards. It just seems convenient to point out JVR in particular. |

A complaint will happen all the time, even if somebody notices him crossing the street at the wrong spot. |

JVR is a very good player. And really it's just one game, albeit a big game. But still just one game. Ever hear that quote where Michael Jordan says he missed the game winning shot like over 50 times? Hall of Fame players have bad games in big games. I don't think it changes what kind of player JVR is. He might get some more chances.

I really like Ehrhoff. He fits that Desjardins/Timonen mold. He Isn't going to wow you. Just quietly get the job done getting big minutes.
We know there isn't going to be a D men better than him in this year's group of UFAs. Might as well see what the cost is. And Buffalo could really use a Center. Just sayin'.
Laughton
Downie(if they lose Ott, here is their replacement)
Mesz(solely to make the cap work)
Up to a 3rd round pick
That is a very fair deal that sends 6.6 mil out for the Flyers. They get a top pairing, puck moving D man and it gives them 2.6 million remaining if they want to pick up another player at the deadline. Just an idea. |

I like Erhoff also. And even making it better, he has a favorable contract. I doubt that get's the deal done. I would bet they'd ask for Morin and possibly Gustafsson.

The thing about Jordan, the thing that made him great, was that he made those shots when the games were the most important. All the way back to when he was in college. |
