The thing about Jordan, the thing that made him great, was that he made those shots when the games were the most important. All the way back to when he was in college. - MBFlyerfan
That's true, but the main point I wanted to make is even all time greats fail on occasion. It's really how you bounce back and how you handle it in the future. I don't personally feel JVR is any less of a player because of one bad game.

It would probably take Laughton + 2nd. - PhillySportsGuy
I would still be fine with that deal. You're getting a top pairing, puck mover for a package centered around a guy you're going to have a tough time finding time for in the lineup as long as you've got the like of G,BSchenn, Vinny, Coots & Read under contract for the next few years. |

No game is a big game unless its the championship. The games leading up to the championship are meaningless. |

I would think about, but I like Laughton a lot. |

I like Erhoff also. And even making it better, he has a favorable contract. I doubt that get's the deal done. I would bet they'd ask for Morin and possibly Gustafsson. - MJL
Morin would be an interesting request in that deal. They have some nice looking young D men already(and that is largely all they have) so I'm thinking they would really be looking to address their forward needs. |

Might be right there. Then it might be Schenn or Couturier. I would trade Laughton for him.

They will have a top 2 pick this year and the Isles pick. They are a team building for the future so they may be willing to take the best package back. Whoever they like more. I don't think they'll have a preference.
I wouldn't give up Morin for him. I would do Laughton or a 1st round pick. |

Agreed. I don't believe we're really in a position to move Morin unless it's a in a deal for a super star D man, which Ehrhoff is not.
It will be interesting. The Sabres might be able to bounce back pretty quick these next few years after the trade deadline and the draft.

Expectations really have little to do with it.
JvR plays well for the opening 4 or 5 games of the tournament, in what was pretty much a first line role, then in the semi-final game, he plays a pretty poor one. The hope was he'd continue to play at the high level he showed in the previous games, and instead, he suffered a noticeable decline.
That's the point that was being made. The guy seemed as if he was stepping up and pressing to grab a leading role, and rather than hitting the bigger stage with a good performance, he played his worst game of the tourney by far.
It's expressing disappointment that he was unable to provide the same level of play against a better opponent in the game that saw his team get eliminated and outplayed. - Jsaquella
Nope. Once again, I've been beaten into submission by this board.
Despite the fact that not a single person can ever recall me saying I hate JVR or Patrick Kane, EVER, on this board, or me repeatedly explaining that don't I hold some kind of Ridiculous Fan Grudge Against a Traded Player and a player who never played for the Flyers and, instead, simply wanted them to play well for Team USA today, against an elite opponent, instead of piling up numbers against lesser competition so that the Team USA could play for a gold medal, you are wrong.
I hate JVR. I hate Patrick Kane. I hate them hate them hate them. For no other reason than people who aren't me are saying that I'm irrationally singling them out for some reason other than the fact the I physically watched them play poorly today.
The board wins. |

They are building a good stable of young talent. We've seen from Edmonton that you can't assume young talent will become elite. They will need to get a variety of players and some veterans in free agency. Buffalo has an owner who will definitely spend. If they can suck again next year and end up with McDavid, they will set themselves up to be very good. |

JVR had a bad game. So did most of the US forwards. It just seems convenient to point out JVR in particular. - PhillySportsGuy
