Losing yesterday is no crime, Canada has a better team, not showing up today was a disgrace. And since all the players are pro's, unprofessional. - PLindbergh31

I agree. I didn't like the way they played yesterday though. I really thought they would beat Canada. They only lost 1-0 but were totally outplayed. - PhillySportsGuy
I actually missed most of the game. Doing my surgical/maternity practicum this month, so I've only caught most of my action in the rooms of patients.
I'd like to see Sweden take gold tomorrow. |

Which in the owner's eyes, go hand in hand. To me if things aren't broke. Why fix it. I'd just leave it the way things are. Ahhh well, it wont be us having a say anyway, the big boys in suits will. I just have seen to much greed in this league lately. With the two lock-outs and now this threat of pulling out of Olympic competition.
Bit of a joke if you ask me, but just a nutter's thoughts. - flyer_nutter
For many, things are broken. There are a large group of NHL fans who hate the stoppage and don't care about the olympics. They are working on a way to appease both sides. A way to globalize the sport and not interfere with their season.
These owners invest a ton of money of these top end players. I'm pretty sure the Islanders will suffer at the ticket office without Tavares in the lineup. Were not talking about a little bit of money. Were talking $100,000s |

You know if Snider was in charge of that selection crew every coach would be fired tomorrow. |

I'm torn about tomorrow. I really don't like Lundqvist. Wouldn't mind seeing him get lit up. |

I'll end it here, just because its a song and dance that's been done. The whole notion is that the NHL is the center of the hockey universe, and while there are fans in the league that "hate" the stoppage for a few weeks, there are fans around the world that would hate if NHL players did not go. Honestly, I am in the frame of mind that if you cant handle a NHL break for a few weeks, you need more hobbies in your life. NHL has 82+ games a year, this tournament is for a few weeks once every 4 years.
We will see what happens. I'm a fan of hockey first and foremost. Not the "NHL". Can agree to disagree, no worries. |

I understand your point. I just feel a World Cup would satisfy the needs of an international audience better than a 2 week Olympic tournament every 4 years. |

I don't know. I think the Finns would have presented a bigger threat to Canada than Sweden. The Canadian offense has not been there all tournament long.
I actually really like Lundqvist as a player myself. Great talent, but I do dislike the Rangers. If the Flyers happen to go up against them in the playoffs, it will be a hard match-up. |

I think we could best the rangers. They are losing a significant piece in their offense in Zucarello (injured) and Callahan might be traded if a deal seems impossible. |

I like Callahan but was that right, that he wanted 5+ a year or something?
Would be a little funny to see Carcillo going up against the Flyers in a 7 game series. |

The Fins played this tourney without Koivu, and Fillpula. Two key offensive cogs, then Barkov got hurt. They definitely give 100% every shift, and play a structured game. Had Rask played yesterday they may have beaten Sweden. I thought the second goal was a little soft by Lehtonen. |

Poor Bourdon, feel bad for that guy.
How can anyone not be happy for Teemu?
He is probably my favorite non Flyer ever.
Suomi is a team of over achievers, congratulations to them. |

Canada was built around the concept of team D.
By far the best back line and a ton of really great two way forwards.
Hard to argue with that formula. |

Its insane that he wants that much and I hope Holmgren will stay away. Somebody will give it to him though. I think either Florida or Buffalo are going to overpay for Callahan so they can get his leadership and defensive play. A few years down the road they will be regretting it.
Playing Carcillo is going to be tough. The kid is a proven winner. He won a cup with Chicago. In all seriousness, I would want to see him match up against Rinaldo or maybe we can have Rosehill pummel him. |

For a little fun fact, bars are allowed to open at 5 am tomorrow to catch the gold medal game. Beer and breakfast. Not much of a drinker but its a little tempting. |

I curious to see when people will stop underestimating Suomi. Despite people counting them out they consistently compete with the best teams.

As much as I would love him to hoist the cup here, I do have to wonder if the Flyers could get a 1st rounder for him, whether to trade him or not.
Timonen has by far been my favourite Flyer, since his arrival. I do want him back for another year if he can go again (at a discounted rate), but I want just as badly to see him lift a cup before his time is done. |

On a business standpoint it makes perfect sense to trade Timmonen and get a first but emotionally I dont want it to happen. I even hope he comes back next year. We need to find a new finnish defenseman to replace him before he leaves. |

An oiler blogger (not on hockeybuzz) proposed this:
2nd overall + klefbom + gagner for couturier + your 1st + coburn.
Thoughts?
Or even something like 2nd overall + gagner for couturier + simmonds/voracek

Much respect from me.
Especially playing without their top centers.
Truly a team performance. |
