Normally this much hype means all smoke and no fire, but in the spirit of this blog, I'll guess it's a trade to the Canes. |

I don't understand how a trade with the Wings would work. Alfredsson has a NMC and the wings have under a million in cap space. Jurco, Tatar and Nyquist all make under 1 million dollars. So Unless the Rangers eat some of Callahan's salary Detroit won't work. The young player I want in return for Callahan isn't one of the Wings young forwards, it's a defenseman. Ryan Sproul is a RHS defenseman with great offensive instincts. |

Doesn't fit Boomers clues. It's gotta be Ruutu |

In most cases rumors don't amount to much. But Esiason has been deadly accurate on several moves made by the Rangers, before they were completed.
Whoever his inside source is seems to have a good grasp on what goes on in Rangerland. One of the clues given was that this unknown player played in Sochi.
Based on that, under your assumption, that leaves Semin, Ruutu or Faulk.
Esiason also said that this player will immediately play on the Rangers first line; that automatically leaves it down to Semin.
I don't think this is the deal. |

Who said it was going to be a good trade. But if Slats is hell bent on trading Cally who do you think he's going to get? Not much. |

it can't be faulk as boomer said it's a forward, and i doubt it's semin because he said the player coming back isn't signed long term. ruutu is also kinda of signed long term as well though, but not as much as semin. |

This smells like a Wings trade. I don't see this as an Alfredsson move though; I am a little confused as to who this deal is for. |

IMO he could do better than Ruutu |

Injured. Can't trade him. |

Part of what Boomer said is player not signed long term, which is Ruutu or St Louis or Alfredsson make sense. I don't view Ruutu as a top-six anymore, consider him a third liner. If doing that, keep Callahan and ride it out, rather than taking a step back. |

May play Wednesday, but has long term deal, which based on tea leaves and boomer bingo, it's a no go. |

Would you want to trade Derek Stepan or Carl Hagelin for Grabovski? Just forget the fact Grabovski has NMC for a moment, would you do it? |

Caps probably think the same thing about Johansen. He's the only player in their top 6 who's contract is favorable. |

washington is an interesting team. what happens if they fail to make it past the 1st round let alone even make the playoffs this year? and next? it's coming close to win the cup or blow it up in washington.
i don't see them moving johansson, though that would be an awesome pickup. he reminds me a lot of silfverberg. |

He plays for the Jackets so we don't really care about the Caps' opinion on this topic. Johansson makes sense, not really for the Caps though, they are a borderline team and just lost Green.
With all the hints, it could be Plekanec too. |

Oh ok. Sorry for the spelling mistake. Obviously I was talking about Marcus and not Ryan. |

Point being, I doubt Washington trades one of their few young players, who's contract is reasonable at this point. |

He'll no to trading both, Hagelin is under valued, he means a lot to this team's dynamic |

Actually, as of today, it makes more sense for the Jackets to go for a rental than the Caps. If the Caps go for a rental it has to be Miller... |
